Sounds like you've already put a bit of work into configuring GameEx agian, but I just want to reiterate that it is possible to just backup your old install and reinstall the new version overtop on your new machine. I personally haven't done this and don't mind setting it up from scratch since it's pretty easy and straight forward. If I had a bunch of emulators other than just mame and NES, I'm sure I would do it the other way though.

Sorry I got here too late, but the mame framerate could also be due to this: go to mame32.exe outside of gameex and in default options for all games, try switching around the display from Direct3D to Direct Draw or vice versa. I can't remember. This is how I solved this problem.

He didn't say anything about updating MAME, but if that were the case then I could see this as a possibility. I know that there was a major change in the video output around version 0.104 that caused me problems. I had to change some command line options to get it working right. However, I don't beleive this caused any slow/choppy problems, just poor looking video. Anyway, as I recall, he didn't update anything but GameEx, so this shouldn't be the problem. Good thought though!

It's definitely some sort of flaky hardware error. Just running normal applications, Firefox, Disk Check, whatever, causes the CPU to spike to 100% and stay there for awhile. This box had been running fine for quite awhile and nothing changed with the system (except being in a powered off state for a couple of months [i moved]). I'm still running at Mame v.106 and everything runs great now on the new hardware. I only use GameEx for MAME, Daphne and some PC games, so redoing the config isn't that big a deal to me. Moving the 15GB of ROMS, reinstalling Lego Star Wars I/II, NFL Blitz, WinIPAC, etc. were bigger hassles.
