It's a problem i'm hoping some of you guys can sort out for me! The volume differences between GameEx and MAME are terrible - I can't hear most of the mame titles I launch particually Tapper.

I understand MAME has to emulate different sound chips which all have their native volume, the only solution i've been told about thus far is that I just need to mess with the speaker volume for each game. Problem is even when i have my creative speakers at max volume you can still not hear the sound very well at all!

If i were to exit back into GameEx without lowering the volume it would litrally blow them :(

How have you guys got around the issue?

Hi,

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I had an issue like this some time ago (no volume in GameEx, fine in Mame32/Windows)

Start any Mame game in GameEx, then press Tab. Press and hold right arrow til the slider is all the way to the right (max volume).Exit out back to the game, and that should set your Mame volume within GameEx to full.

Hope this helps

I'v come across this as well and found it to be settings in gameEX.

Go to addvanced cofig then in the attract/screensaver go to attract mode audio and play with the settings there, I can't seem to rember which one sorted the problem? select each one and see.

Ohh I forgot to mention the you should all go to audio settings and then mame audio mode again play with the settings and see if that sorts it out for ya.

all the best,

Rusty.

Have you pressed the + and - keys on the keyboard? during the game of course.

Sorry, I should have said the Tilde key, not Tab (one above it).

Audio should be set for Pause playlist audio and run Mame with sound.

Works for me anyhoo!

Hope this helps,

Johnny

Just had a quick look: yep, start game in GameEx, press Tilde, if it says -32db, the volume is set to minimum. Press right arrow (you'll see the white line going accross) to 0db, press Tilde again and that should do it. If it's already all the way right (0db), it's something else!
