Hi all.

I wanted to ask how I could do the following. I have a large amount of standard PC games (not emulators) and I'd like to have a sub menu off the main GameEx menu that says something like [PC Games]. Then when clicked it takes you to a second menu with more sub menus such as [Action Games], [Arcade Games], [Role Playing Games], etc... Finally when you click on one of those sub folders you will see a list of installed PC games for that genre and can then double click the name of the game you wish to load and GameEx then loads the game for you to play.

I looked on the site but I couldn't find info on this and I couldn't figure out how to do it. If anyone can help me, I'd trule appreciate it.

Thanks

i think currently you have to put Pc Games in external Applications this will then show up under Games and Apps in gameex

might be worth a feature request i for one think it would be a good idea.

You set it up with shortcuts.

Put all the shortcuts you want in a folder then in the emulator setup you say your rom folder is that folder with the shortcuts.

The command line is what I dont remember off the top of my head. Im sure someone will post it here soon or I will when I get home later.

I just started fooling with 7zip files the other day and it seems that gameex shows them as sub folders. So you might try and put your action game links in a action.7z file and role playing links in a Role Playing.7z file for example. Then you have to enable 7zip in emulator setup of coarse. If it works with PC shortcuts then the menu would be:

Emulated Games

...>MAME

...>NES

...>PC Games <---- The emulator

...............>Action

.....................>List of games in 7zip file

...............>Role Playing <--- The 7zips as a menu

.....................>List of games in 7zip file

The other option is to set it up using shortcuts as LB11 suggested and then set up a MDB for the PC Games which contains the game name, genre, description and what not then when you select PC Games section from the list you'll get a list with all the games but you'll have the various category options that you get with Mame and other emulators for sorthing by year, genre and that... take a look at the other MDBs for various emulators in the GameEx\DATA\EMULATORS folder

Stu's Idea sounds even better. Here is what I have in the command line...

[ROMPath]\[RomFile]

Nothing else. :D
