Those of you with ipacs, after configuring your emulators and gameex did you ever come across a time like "shoot I should have configured a terminal to 'xyz' key"?

I hope this makes sense. I'm about to rewire my ipac terminals and reconfigure the encoder and want to do it right and not miss any critical keys that I might need.

I remember a few times I thought about some keys I should have programmed, but never wrote them down.

the only trouble i ran into is numeral keys and the letter L. L in mame is to view the controls in game, and the numeral keys in my console emulators are save states. turn numlock off and use some of those keys if you need more. hope that helps

Thanks! these are the ideas that I am looking for :)

ya i basically use the arrow keys for player 1 up, down, left, right, then the numpad for player 2 directions.

You will also want to change the mapping of the SHIFT,CTRL,ALT and SPACE as they do not work well as input keys in some emulators EG. NullDc also Q key quits daphne so you might want to avoid that as well.

For other emu/apps you can always use auto hot key. in (GAMEEX) launch before run a script that can disable or remap keys.

What emus do you use? I would be more than happy to help

Has anyone used Tom's new key remapping feature ? I'm going to give it a go in the near future - just looking for feedback.

I havent yet. I did take a quick look at it and I think It might use vkcodes. as AHK I can just insert the key G::W which will make it act as the w key everytime I hit g. Seems a little easyer to setup.

Although I did use the hell out of mapping joypad button to keys through toms advance configuration.

Tom's advanced configurations only work with up to 10 buttons (more now I think). If you are using a GP-Wiz, you have up to 32, so it won't work.

Though I've read about it, and I just tried it, I've never seen this 'L' thing. I assume you need some controls file in the folder, hm?

While using MAME you can press L and it will bring up a cpanel that shows you which buttons do which action

For what? There is a directory (I think called controls) that has a bunch of .cfg files in it within the MAME directory. Those files all have xml formatted controls data. There's one file for each game you have launched in MAME.
