Tom:

I just want to make sure that I got the right post here. My Vista system displays the GameEx forum all screwy in FireFox and IE. I never understood why it does that and I'll post a screenshot so you can see what I mean...

For whatever reason all I can see is the tree of responses and I can't go through page by page. Also if I click the last post by: link I get an error. This is a Vista exclusive problem since my XP SP2 machine at home does not do this. I instead get to view posts in succession and can easily click and go to last posts in threads.

Anyhow, this is the post right?

issue 1

--------

I have Vista 32 and have problem exiting P64 gracefully and going back to GameEx. In fact - after playing, say, mario 64 and pressing 'back' as usual: GameEx crashes, and I get the standard windows dialog saying the program has stopped responding. Any one else experienced this?

issue 2

--------

When GameEx is running exclusively on a non primary Monitor: the mouse does not work in gameEx and items / btns can't be selected. Is this still the case? Can any one confirm (I've recently switched it back to primary)?

issue 3

--------

Is pressing 'L' still meant to bring up the control panel in MAME? I can't get it to work at all now, but even when it was working I noted this issue:

Mame Control Panel doesn't start up straight away - 'L' has to be held down. Even when it appears: if a game was paused exits paused it will unpause and u can hear the game running in the background

issue 4

--------

Switching straight to TV mode (by pressing 'live TV' on MCE remote) from GameEX causes error (log at the end of this reply). Question on this: should we expect GameEx to be able to exit gracefully and go to these parts of MCE (like live TV, dvd via MCE, etc) when remote btns are pressed, or do we need to exit the program normally through exit/shutdown or the red power btn?

issue 5

--------

backing out of a 7z archive after having played a game sometimes doesn't work. Pressing the 'back' btn again thereafter, however, returns you to the game list without fail. Only a minor niggle!

request 1

-----------

Would it be possible to add regular expression filtering to the 'excluded' field, and have them work with 7z archives? that way I could just add something like: '*Hack), *T-Eng* and so on to keep clean rom lists displayed.

request 2

-----------

Favourites list determined by system (rather than bundling them all in one folder for all aracde/conole/etc?). Multiple favourite/custom lists would also be fantastic!

request 3

-----------

I think I remember reading you had issues with this in the past, but: will we see a return of GameEx being able to display MAME images from inside of zips? This is the best way to sort them in Clear Mame Pro and I sorely miss this not being available in GameEx!

request 4

-----------

Would it be possible to have more control over menu structure. Id like to do something like this:

- MAME

- Neo Geo

- CPS

- Golden Era

- Console

- SNES

- NES

- Gameboy

- Computer

- Apple II

- MSX

- C64

... where Mame, Console, and Computer would be the first items in the first list form starting GameEx. Ideally - as I touched on earlier - I'd love to have Favourites and Most Played as further options in this tier system.

I'll start testing some of these, but I can't check the secondary display problem until I get home and hook up an extra monitor to the laptop. Otherwise I'll get on these right now and let you know what I find.

Hey. This one:

Im going to add one of my own here, Id like to know if anyone has the same issue please.

Its when GameEx is running in a window as opposed to full screen in Vista and when aero is running. I made a lot of changes to gameex so it does not shut down aero when windowed.

After a while gameex stops responding for me windowed. I cant fix this currently. It is a display issue, that is to do with the bitblt API call, and not a bug in code as such. Im thinking it may be a vista bug/driver issue, so let me know your experience.

EDIT: As far as I know this is the ONLY Vista specific remaining issue. Hopefully its not affecting everyone. Its certainly not an issue when running full screen or not running aero.

I upgraded my Nvidia drivers a couple of days ago, and this issue seems to be fixed for me now. I was always pretty certain it was a driver/vista bug. Can you please confirm Adultry if you have a chance. Not sure if your using nVidia or ATI?

nVidia. I'm testing now but I update my drivers regularly so this may not be a problem here either. Give me a minute and I'll try to recreate this. :)

Thanks mate. If you cant recreate it it means GameEx is 100% Vista compitable now :)

I left it go about 12-15 minutes and there was no problems here.. I have AVI snaps for all my games so I don't know if that clouds up the results or not... The only glitch I noticed is theme related I think, but I'll post a snap for you anyways. I should also mention that the newest update came in before the test.... Hope that's helpful to you, and glad to see Vista making friends with GameEx. :)

Sorry, I just noticed this thread. Also, I'm not really much help for ya. I'm running Vista, but my system is very unstable still. I hope to have it up and running smoothly some day though. As to the issue you mention, I've never seen that happening on my end. As for Adultery's problem with the theme.. I believe that's just the result when you have the resolution set too low, and the font size doesn't change to match.

Your'e both right Adultery & Hansolo, its not a vista issue, the theme just doesn't behave well when run in a window.
