Hi All,

I am not getting hardly any bug reports. Please do post any bugs you find with GameEx, big or small. I can't believe my coding is that great that there arnt any ;)

I spot the odd thing myself now and then..

Please do help build a better GameEx.

As with feature requests, bug reports are activly encouraged.

Thanks,

Ton,

The only "glitch" I've found is one I've already mentioned, when you press the media center ("green") button it now returns to MCE OK, but Windows task bar pops up and you can't control MCE without pressing the MCE button again. Seems like when GameEx exits, it somehow takes focus away from MCE.

Much better than the old behavior, but the other half keeps thinking it's "broken" when that happens. Other than that there's nothing to report. Very heavy usage, and it's been working totally flawlessly.

One glitch that I forgot about that has been there since I've been using GameEx: If I launch an emulator that immediately returns (say, bombs out with an error), GameEx hangs. It leaves just the desktop (if ShowDesktop is true, black screen if not) with the GameEx process running. You have to kill it from the task list. It happens on all of my machines (but they're all 3ghz P4s). On my systems it's extremely consistent. Probably some sort of problem with the code that GameEx uses to determine when a process has exited - perhaps it's waiting for the process to start but it never sees it because it disappears too fast.

I used to see it frequently when initially setting up my emulators. If I screwed up the parameters in any way, I'd have to kill GameEx.

You can test it by giving

C:\windows|system32\cmd.exe /c "echo"

as a command line. (Hmmm ... this forum software will not accept my post with a "backslash-s" in it)

NVDVD Support needed :)

Also can only get the 2004 SSE2 preview and SSE2 ffdshows to work. can not get any newer to work.

Work with what? Ive been using the daily builds, mostly always. In fact had a lot of issues with those versions.

I only have one glitch and I'm not sure if it's a config issue, GameEx issue or emulator issue.

Basically sometimes when I run a mame game, the actual game loses focus and focus is returned to the hide windows task. I then have to alt tab into the game. Not that dificult as I have a keyboard in my cabinet, but it does ruin some of the cabinet illusion.

It's probably not a config issue. I noticed this same thing just the other day when I put my GameEx config on a friend's computer. The same config has worked fine on 5 machines, but on his, MAME sometimes doesn't focus and you have to alt-tab to see it. Have you checked your computer for spyware? Spyware often screws with how applications are brought to the foreground. The other possibility is that he's using the latest version of MAME, where I'm not (I compiled mine for P4 optimizations, and he has an Athlon so I just downloaded the latest the binary from the official website). Try downgrading to 0.95 to see what happens, that's the version I'm using that I know works.

I can repro the same behavior on my two machines (P4 1.8 with XP Pro SP2 and Athlon 2800 with MCE 2005 SP2).

The first two items should be fixed in the new version just uploaded. Can you confirm?

in regard to the MAME focus issue, could you try MAME32 over Windows MAME or vice versa. What version is it you are trying? Can you give me the link so I can try it out and fix if necessary.

Cheers.
