how to get create video snaps working properly?

i just registered and wanted to create video snaps for nes/snes/n64. However when i do it in fullscreen it does absolutely nothing, and when i run gameex windowed i have to hit escape to get a video codec menu, so i select whichever, and then it just seems to play the first game in the list nonstop until i hit escape. Can anyone explain the work arounds to making video snaps?

I doubt if it will make much difference but are you using the recommended ffdshow version 20051129?

I have no problems creating video I just select the create video option and the codec selector pops up, I choose what I want, hit ok and GameEx batters on through the list of games... the only problem is that most of the videos are crap because they just show the intro to a game
