Hi All

I have been having alot of trouble getting my zinc games to run in gamex or even in zinc itself

i followed the instructions to use it as a stand alone and with advanced mame with zinc_wrapper as shown in post -

http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...amp;#entry19991

but i am still having no luck,

each time i try to open any of the zinc games in either the stand alone zinc emu or through mame, the screen goes black for around 10 seconds and then simply returns to the game page.

I also tried placing cpzn1 and cpzn2 in each of the games zip folder but still nothing, i have checked all of my directory paths and ran clrmame and downloaded any missing roms it asked for in zinc.

If anyone has any ideas as to what i might have missed in the setup please let me know

Any help would be greatly appreciated cause i am have tried everything i can think of and am getting hassled by my 10 yr old son to get them working so i can get the cabinet up and runnig again

Thanks in advance

Are you using Vista? If so set the properties for the wrapper\loader to run with administrative rights.

Also it is important not to use the OpenGL* render when first getting things going...#2 maybe very pretty to use...but it has more setup issues.

In standalone your command line does look like so:

ZiNc_Loader.exe "[Rom]"

As is it seems like your launching Zinc without passing it a rom.

Hi Nologic

Thanks for your reply

As u can probably tell i have only been using Gameex and Zinc for about a week now and am still working out how it is structured

i am using windows XP on my pc

i followed these instructions as supplied in Loader_Standalone.txt but still having no luck

in standalone it is using ZiNc_Loader.exe "[Rom]"

i am not 100% sure that i am not using opengl renderer, can u plese tell me where to find out

here is the first few lines of my settings.ini

[ROM Path]

DIR="C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\emulators\zinc\roms"

[Aqua Rush (JP) Ver. A]

GFX=.\Config\ZiNc_D3D.cfg

CFG=.\Controls\S12\Aqua_Rush.cfg

CON=.\Plugins\Controller_JS.znc

[battle Arena Toshinden 2 (JP 951124)]

GFX=.\Config\ZiNc_D3D.cfg

CFG=.\Controls\ZN1\Battle_Arena_Toshinden_2.cfg

CON=.\Plugins\Controller_JS.znc

[battle Arena Toshinden 2 (US 951124)]

GFX=.\Config\ZiNc_D3D.cfg

CFG=.\Controls\ZN1\Battle_Arena_Toshinden_2.cfg

CON=.\Plugins\Controller_JS.znc

I have confirmed all my paths are correct but dont know what else to look for at this stage

If its easier for you to work out what i have stuffed up i can post any files needed

Any help u can give is appreciated

Thanks

Well you are using D3D...so OpenGL isn't the issue.

I'll look things over in the morning & maybe I can find some thing in my code thats screwing up.

Make sure to check your Zinc rom set with clrmame pro...you should be able to find the correct dat file over at Logiqx.

If you've never used clrmame before be sure to make a backup of your roms just encase some thing goes wrong. :(

Hi again Nologic

I have run clrmame pro and still no change, it did fix a few roms and rename some also but i still cant get any of the games to work in zinc

Its more than likely that i have changed a setting or directory in there and that is the problem, but which one and where i have no idea :(

I will try a few more things tonight and if need be i will just download zinc again and start over

Thanks for all of your help so far

Hi Nologic

I am sorry to annoy you guys again but i am still having the same problem,

i have downloaded zinc again, downloaded the wrapper and followed the instructions and renamed the paths

redownloaded the roms and ran clrmame pro and got this as statistics on the second run through

Missing Sets: 6075 of 6103

Wrong SetName Case: 0 [0 fixed]

Wrong Named Sets: 1 [1 fixed]

Missing Roms: 88227 (275 are 'nodumps') of 88488

Missing Bytes: 48gb of 49gb

Missing BIOS Roms: 83 of 4168

Wrong Named Roms: 0 [0 fixed]

Wrong RomName Case: 0 [0 fixed]

Wrong Sized Roms: 0 [0 fixed]

Wrong Date/Time Roms: 0 [0 fixed]

Wrong CRC32s: 0

Wrong MD5s: <n/a>

Wrong SHA1s: <n/a>

The only thing i am not sure of is if i have the the pr1data.8k file in the right place, so i have placed it in C\: C\:Windows C:\Windows\system32 just to be sure :unsure:

I am not 100% if i have the right settings ticked in clrmamepro, could this be the problem

Although i have tried every game in zinc through GameEx and still have the problem of the screen flickering black for anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute and then just returning to the game page

here is my zinc.cfg file if that helps

--sound-filter-enable=no

--sound-filter-cutoff=22050

--sound-surround-lite-enable=no

--sound-stereo-exciter=no

--use-slow-geometry=no

Is there anywhere i can get a list of all of the roms and chd's needed to ensure that i have the right ones

Thanks for all of your help so far
