I upgraded from 7.09 (7.09 worked great), now i when i turn on gameex, it like minimizes down to the left hand corner all i see it says gameexlll0/06l or something like that, stays there a long time then it finally maximizes. what is the cause of that? does anyone have this problem?

thanks in advance

Sometimes it happens when another program pops up and takes the foreground away from GameEx. It COULD help to clear out your prefetch folder and try to convince Windows to resequence your boots. Delete everything in the Windows/Prefetch folder (yes this is completely safe!) and then reboot a couple times. See if that helps. It is a long shot and a work around more than a fix, but it could help!

didnt work. went back to 7.09. :( , i guess the new release has something that requires more out of my machine that makes it minimize. ill keep experimenting.

Funny thing....I went to play my arcade machine last night and it did the SAME thing! I didn't wait around for it to fix itself--I CTRL/ALT/DEL it and started GameEx again and it was fine. The strange thing is that I changed ABSOLUTELY nothing on my machine since last I played. The only thing I can think of is that Windows got some updates last time I had it on and the next time it booted it did some of the updates in the background before it fully booted which stole focus from GameEx and caused it to minimize. I will just have to wait and see if it keeps happening...

I'm running the latest version of Gameex: 8.88 and this is happening to me.

Here is what I have attempted to try and clear this up without any success.

1. Cleared the Prefetch folder. This worked a couple of times, and then the error would come back.

2. Disabled Nview, the Nvidia program that came with my computer. I read this on another thread.

3. Made sure no other program is running.

4. Changed multiple themes to make sure it was not the theme.

Since the program minimizes and does not crash, it is just very annoying. I was wondering if anybody else has had this happen to them lately, and what other suggestions there are to fix it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That did not work. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have anything launching at startup defined in GameEx config? A startup video or something? Have you changed anything on the computer just before it started behaving like this, like updating drivers, codecs, software, etc?

You could try a system restore, if you're running Windows XP. If it doesn't help, you can always go back the setting you restored from.

Also, try posting the log, as Tom requested.
