Hi-

Just wondered what folk's opinions were on these joysticks. With X-Arcade, it seems like it is a hit and miss proposition to get the damn thing working. Sometimes it is great, and then it does not work. Now, with the X-arcade, all it does is recycle the play this game over and over..was wondering if the HotRod is any better....or anything else maybe??

I thought these were both pretty much the same under the hood? Don't they both use a keyboard emulator to map button presses to MAME keys (by default)? If so, then I don't understand the way you have asked the question. Are you trying to figure out which is better as far as the joystick itself or interfacing with GameEx and emulators?

Yes-I should have clarified that more. I can get my X-Arcade to work in MAME and PowerMame, but with GAMEEX, it appears to be a "sometimes" thing. I had it solid for a while, but when I did a computer upgrade, away my settings went. I went into Advanced Mame to put in the -ctrlr XArcade in, but it does not appear to be helping much..I just hate having to use my damn keyboard!

I should have also added-when I go to select a game, then play that game, my screen just cycles back to "Play this game," now...not sure what is causing that..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I personally have had experience with the HotRod. I worked just fine till I gave it away when I bought my first Slikstik. I then went on to build my own (which is more gratifying IMHO). If you are a woodworking novice like myself order a blank panel and the parts and get busy! I enjoyed working on my controllers.
