got the latest version of GameEx and installed on a MCE2k5 box in the house so I and son can play games from my era instead of the new stuff. I have used older versions of GameEx in the past without any problems. Got a new MCE2k5 box and wanted to get it running as well.

and on to the point......

I can't get this to work at all. I even installed newest updates of

1. Mame32

2. Advance Mame

3. ZNes

4. Project 64

5. WGens

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times trying to get this to work and have had no luck.

The is the specs of my latest try. New install of GameEx. Have run the 'Easy Config' program in GameEx and set the directories for Mame32. When I start GameEx, it shows the update list command, but when I run it, it never finds any ROMS. I have triple checked everything is correct and I am now at a loss as to how to get the ROMS to pop up. I will worry about the other emulators later, they are all doing the same thing. I am sure the directories are correct, so i have no clue what I am missing.

Please, anyone out there that can help me I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks,

Jeff

See above, the version of MAME you are using is over 2 and a half years old. I would try getting a newer version as my suggestion at this time.

Simply: Old versions of MAME cannot create the output files necessary for GameEx to update the list. Get a new version.

alright, that fixed mame, but what do i need to do about the other emulators. I can't get any of their roms to pop up when i choose. 'emulated games' and then say 'N64' any ideas. I am pretty sure i have the most up to date versions of those emulators.

thanks for the help.

sounds to me its a filter issue are your n64 roms zip packed or extracted ?

if packed look for this line ...

RomFilter=*.zip <--- should work

if the roms are extracted then change it to

RomFilter=*.v64;*.n64;*.rom;*.z64 i think thats all the differents types i hope i wrote it right tho hehe :)

and make sure you have the rom path direction pointed correct to your rom folder

hope it helps

should there be a listing for 'update list' inside of the other emulator categories or is the update list under mame a global that finds all?

the reason i ask is when i go into the listing for N64 or SNES, the only option it gives me is to create snaps.

thanks,
