GameEx Not working

Hi, I'm new to Mame, gaming etc. I want to use GameEx as a frontend for Mame cause it look good but after I installed and configured my settings, I was getting this error report. I'm running Mame v106 cause I have all the v106 ROMS. Any help would be great. Tx. CB

Looks to me like you need to check your MAME path:

"16:26:37.0 2/3/2007: Cannot Find MAME Path: MAME Disabled"

i put in the path to mame. am i missing something? what specific file do i need to point to in mame or do i just point out the main mame directory. am i possibly missing a mame file? my mane program works without a frontend so i'm a little confused. tx.

well it just goes to show how much of a newbie i am. when you say mame path you mean something like this:

Mame Path: C:\Mame\Mame32

Mame EXE: mame32b.106.exe

Rom Path/s: C:\Mame\Mame32\roms

does this look like it should work assuming my mame program is in my C directory under Mame/Mame32?

That looks right to me... Perhaps GameEx can't find the Mame32.106.exe because of the 'double extension' there. Try renaming to mame32.exe instead.

also, the next thing GameEx does is load the Loading Image:

00:06:46.2  2/5/2007:  Applying GameEx is Loading Image

so you may not have GameExIsLoading.png in your theme folder. That MAME thing about not finding the path certainly is troublesome... I'd look into that first.

I have been busy with my cabinet and some other things so I haven't been able to figure out my GameEx FE lately. I renamed my Mame EXE and now I get this error log: Any other suggestions?

To me it looks like your are using a theme that is designed for a higher resolution than you have your system running at.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by what theme I'm using. Do you mean the theme I chose to run with GameEx? Also, the resolution of my screen?

One more thing, I noticed on the error log it couldn't find the Catver.ini file. I have that file on my computer, could this be a part of the problem and what do Ido to make GameEx recognize Catver.ini file?

The Catver issue should be fixed in the latest release. In regard to the theme, yes that's what they mean.

Could you try the default 800x600 V2 theme that was in the GameEx install first and see if that works properly?

Sounds like a video card driver since your CPU is fast enough. What kind of card do you have and are the drivers up-to-date?
