Ben Versteeg, the person many in the ZX Spectrum community knew as the heart and hands behind ByteDelight, has sadly passed away.

Ben was not just a hardware maker.

He was a craftsman, a true enthusiast, and a member of the scene who quietly and consistently helped keep the ZX Spectrum alive - through his designs, his support, and his integrity.

His devices, including DivMMC, are now part of countless ZX Spectrum systems around the world.

They still work.

They are still in use.

And through them, his legacy lives on.

What makes this loss even harder is that Ben was relatively young, and his passing came as a complete shock. The family has confirmed his death, but no public details about the cause have been shared, which we should respect.

If you own his hardware - use it.

If it sits in a display case - preserve it.

These are small but meaningful ways to honour someone who gave so much to this community.

Rest in peace, Ben.

You will not be forgotten by the ZX Spectrum world.
