Space Rangers (Amiga): the great hunt for the original introduction music

Hi all,

For nine long years, I've been searching for the original introduction music to Space Rangers on the Amiga. I wrote to David Schroeder, got in touch with other comments on old youtube videos that played the wrong music, tried recreating the tune from memory alone and compared it with others' memories.

The biggest lead so far has been a clip posted by this community 5 years ago:

Does anyone have the original ROM and would you be able to upload the intro music in full to youtube? If not, I'd appreciate any pointers for setting up an emulator myself. I need this version of the ROM though, as the others uploaded seem to have the wrong music playing in the intro

Unfortunately I am unable to see the clip you referenced. Can you "paste as plain text" the link to it or the original forum post?

I had to reread your post as initially it read (to me at least) that you were requesting the ROM which is verboten here. But you weren't.

That said, we will be glad to help you, but you will be responsible for obtaining your ROMs and "googling" for them for yourself. Same goes for determining what is the best emulator for Amiga.

The GameEx Wiki, while slightly out of date with some features,  is still valid for setting up emulators, etc. if your intent is to run it via GameEx.

There are setup issue threads for WinUAE Amiga emulator that you can search via the forum search feature.

If you are not planning to use GameEx and are seeking help to setup an Amiga emulator standalone, then you may need to seek help from the Amiga emulator community as our focus is primarily via the GameEx frontend.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply! If someone already has access to this version of the game (or the youtube account that posted the vid), that would be great. Otherwise I would have to set up the emulator and search through every ROM available out there until finding the right one.

Here is the plain text: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwATApeN2Qw

If that video has the complete intro music you are looking for, Google is your best friend for finding an app and downloading an .mp4 from it.

That's as far as we can go with assistance on this topic.

It's not the complete intro music, unfortunately.

Is the original person who uploaded the video no longer around? There are many ROMs out there but from what it seems they all have a bootleg copy that plays the wrong music in the intro. I wanted to ask that person which version he used or if he still can boot it up.
