hey guys, now that my arcade is complete, i find myslef wanting to do more. i never understood/used the "shift" function on my ipac and would like to. for instance, how would i advance through games by letter using my controls rather than my keyboard, also, how can i control the volume in mame games with my controls and such? not sure if it has anything to do with gameex, but i'm sure some of you are using these functions. thanks all.

GameEx already has a "shift" key function built in (no need to setup shift for your IPAC). Select Start->Programs->GameEx->Setup Wizard->Custom->Keyboard Input

The Paging button (aka shift) is used to scroll through lists a page at a time. You can also use it with Up and Down to adjust the volume.

As for adjusting the volume in mame, you can't do that with GameEx yet, but I've remember requesting the feature myself.

If worse comes to worse I could knock up an app to do it. But it would be nice having it built into GameEx. GameEx has a small app running in the background of Mame already, so it wouldn't be a difficult feature to add. The only problem I could see arising is you may accidently adjust the volume while in Mame. Eg. Holding C while pressing Up or Down is an easy combo to do while in Mame.

kaze i'm lost brother. i know you told me a while ago i should update everytime, but i hadn't done so. i stopped right before the release of the config wizard, because after my trials in tribulations, conifiguring by hand wasn't a problem any more, and i never felt the need fo the wizard. i've finally updated, and at first my gameex wouldn't boot because "error no plugins folder". so i went into program files/gameex and just made a new folder named PLUGINS. now she boots up nice. i do not see the setup wizard you speak of though. hope you can help.
