[RESOLVED] Updated to 18.99

Hello all,

I updated to version 18.99. When it tries to load databases it hangs till the screensaver starts. I hit backspace to exit screensaver, then its another 5-7 minute wait to get to main menu. Is there anyway to go back a couple of versions? I promise once I get something stable I'll turn Auto Update off

I will need to see the files as normal but the main change in the last release and I dont know what version you were on but was enabling full screen exclusive mode. full screen ualwindowed = false

Also, as usual, if you dont want to help, old versions are still there.

i cant see much wrong other than the database for emulator 61. it also seems to take 5 seconds to exit the screensaver. sounds a little long.

Do you get a black screen running gameex windowed?

it looks like your not running full screen exclusive so maybe try a reboot. sometimes the display get glitched. in can happen.

How do you set full screen exclusive?

its full screen windowed setting in the setup wizard but looks like you already have it off. Apart from a few performance improvements that was the main change, You may need to update the mame game list or delete/rename delete data\gamelist.exe. i removed some checks for older versions to improve android performance,

Assuming you had the same experience you originally reported after making Tom's suggested change? Can you provide updated files, even if you are not going to pursue further updates?

Go to the View Changelog link in the GameEx download and select a prior version, then download.

Went back to 18.78. and is stable no issues. However I'ma look for the version that doesn't scan all the rom folders on startup. And stick with that. Thanx for all the help, the rest is trial and error on me. Do the other versions of game ex run the pixelcade marquee? I haven't tried any of them.

Pixelcade is compatible with GameEx and GameEx Arcade Edition. I can't speak for Evolution.

just to let you know i had a little test of 18.99 with emulators setup and it seems fine to me. i did not mess with plugins or themes though.

When run directly on my nas (over fast wifi) i did notice a little delay at startup but directly on my laptop it was instant.

i also noticed the new databases work awesome. i never got any feedback on them but they seem to match incredibly well.

version 19 fixes the emulator caching (rom scanning). i am not sure about the black screen yet.

It didnt for me. still hangs on databases. How do you delete the databases?

Delete the .map, .dbcache, & .dbcacheini files pertaining to the emulator. GameEx will rescan your directory. These files can be found in the DATA directory of your GameEx install directory.

Hey I just thought about something

 I was having problems with RPCS3 not running games as well as it used to. After installing years of updates over current version. So what I did was a clean install and it fixed the problems I was having. That being said, I'm backup my game ex.ini and plugins folder, uninstall and do a clean install of current version and see how it goes.

Did all that and it still hangs on loading HBMAME database. Is it because of the game ex.ini file?

What happens if you boot with the install gameex.ini before you copy yours over the top?

Also, is it possible that there is an issue with the hbmame.xml (HBMame Database) that is causing the issue?

Haven't tried that. I deleted the HBMAME.xml file and removed reference to it in the Ganeex.ini file

 Now one setup doesn't take forever to scan folders and the other one does LOL. Also the setup that doesn't scan the folders goes to black screen when trying to change games. I'ma wait it out and see if game ex comes back and post ini and log file

Game Ex hung on Black screen when trying to switch games. Ended up restarting
