Did you run it then unplug the IPAC and plug it in again? That registry file just removes the driver, you need to plug it in again to re-install it.

yeah did that, i was talking with ling on aim and he uninstalled his driver and his light still glows green. we're guessing my i pac is fried... if so buying a new one should result in a working device or will it not?

Is it PS/2 or USB? If it's USB try a different port, if it's PS/2 to USB, try it directly in the PS/2 port (if you have one). P.S Some USB ports are powered and some arn't.

Also check device manager, is there a /!\ icon?

yeah i tried mix and matching... no dice. i do not have ps2, so it's ps2 in the ipac, usb to the pc. i think it's fried dude, and will let you know what's going on. will a new ipac worK? or is it forever damned on my pc? i sent andy an email to see what he thinks.

jay t, nice to hear from you pal.

having the mini power minder your suggest, i didn't need to make that contraption everyone is talking about, i'm in love with the mpminder. i did decide to go this route... as suggested by many, i went into my bios and made it so the pc boots when ac power is returned. thus having my power minder with all my accessories plugged in the 2ndary port, and the pc plugged in the primary, i just click on the power strip and everything boots. awesome...

BUT as many of you remember, whenever i make a bit of progress something F's up on me. i guess if this didn't happen to me, i wouldn't be katuuuz. since i had to move the arcade all together i had to take the CP off to fit it through the door. so like an ass i decided it'd be a prime time to re-wire and neaten up my prior wiring job. BAD IDEA. i did it all up, and it was responding, but i forgot to wire my escape button, and my credit buttons were always on. no biggie, i unplugged the ipac without turning off the pc, fixed the errors, and upon plugging it back in i got my all time favorite message. "device not recognized". i tell you i came inches from burning my arcade to the ground. i tried it in all different usb ports but to no avail. if anyone can help i'd appreciate it, i just got through emailing andy, and i'm hoping he has good news. other than that wretched mishap, the arcade is finished and looking good. only i can't play now. F*&%*&!!!

Glad to hear you like the Mini Power Minder, Its works great for me as well. As for you Ipac you say you unplugged it, then fixed the errors. What errors? Did you re-wire the escape and credit buttons? I would re-examine the wiring and make sure you don't have a wire crossed somewhere. Beyond that I would try the driver uninstall software the others mentioned. Last but not least I would try different usb ports to make sure its not a bad port, ideally try the port it was originally plugged into, as many usb devices have to be reinstalled if plugged into a different port (odd as that is). Good luck.

yah jay, i'm pretty sure it's fried. the light doesn't even glow anymore. i unplugged all wires to the ipac and tried it again after my pc got a good night's sleep, but it was basically wishful thinking. i'm still waiting to hear from andy from ultimarc on what he thinks i should do next. i'm probably gonna need to buy a new board, but what else is new? i had a 6 pack on ice ready to be cracked in celebration of the finalization of the cab... needless to say after the ipac's failure, i drank the sixer in despair.

cheers brosephs.

Hi Katuuuz. This may not be the case. I had the same problem. It even seemed that my usb port that i had the ipac connected to wasn't working anymore. I had plugged in my usb flashdisk to the usb port i was using for my ipac and it didn't work/status light would not light up. If i were you i'd give it one more shot. Rewire your ipac back up to your buttons and joysticks (and double check the wiring !). The next part i'll post when i finish work (about 3 hours). I can't remember it offhand but i have the link saved on my pc at home.

Talk soon,

iano.

dude, iano i'd really appreciate it if you could give me the link... i tried plugging the ipac in without any wires in it at all and the green light still doesn't glow. but if you could follow up on that i'm up for suggestions at this point, as my only option i can think of is to buy a new one.

thanks -katuuz

iano is the man, here is his plan.

totally fixed my ipac. i remember doing this with the ultimarc trackball i had ordered, (before i returned it for the Happ 3") and it never resolved my trackball issue, so i didn't think to try it. thanks again iano, you've aided me in the completion of the mikeade.

if you have windows 9x...

boot into safe mode and delete the entry from device manager

if you have windows 2000/XP...

start->run cmd.exe

then type the following and hit enter...

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

then type the following and hit enter...

start devmgmt.msc

when device manager opens, under the view menu, put a check by "show hidden devices"

http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showt...part=1&vc=1

After you've checked 'show hidden devices' scroll down to usb controllers and right click on each of them (usb controllers) and click 'properties' until you find your ipac. Then click on the 'driver' tab and click 'uninstall'. Then exit back to windows. PLUG IN YOUR IPAC TO THE USB PORT WHICH YOU INTEND TO HAVE IT PLUGGED INTO IN YOUR CAB & LEAVE IT CONNECTED TO THAT PORT (DONT SWAP USB PORTS). Try firing up WinIPAC and try to program it the the MAME default key assignment. Hopefully, it should work. This is basically what other people have suggested earlier. I've had loads of trouble with my ipac but found out it's a windows/usb issue. Let us know how you get on.

Make sure you put up some pics of your cab on the cabs running gameex thread. I'm excited to see what it looks like.
