Best Compression Settings For Create Videos?

I'm going to start creating videos for all my roms and I was wondering what format and bitrate I'd be best to use? is there any format GameEx displays faster than others? any other settings I should watch out for? Will I get better results recording them uncompressed and then re-encoding them later with TMPG Encode or something?

dont use uncompressed, I personaly used XviD but divx is just as good for clips also id use a low bit rate because theres no need for high quality clips.
