No, the ledwiz.dll has nothing to do with Betabrite and BPP-440 you should be able to use them both at the same time. Although I don't own either hardware to test here. I don't think "freaks out pretty bad" is much of a technical term to go to help out in any way I'm afraid. I'm not sure why your having problems saving your LEDWiz configs. Make sure you have the latest version of GameEx, I remember older versions of GameEx was saving older versions of the plugin over the top and would mess up the configs. It happened to me a few times. The only way around it was to make sure your installing GameEx with a newer version of the plugin. Don't download the version attached to this thread. Noone else has reported saving problems in this version, so I'm not sure what could be going wrong.

That might be the problem, sorry for the non techinical response :blink: I was tired. Anyway when you start work on it again I will do all the testing you want. I will play with it some more and make sure that I have the latest version installed, does that happen automatically when gameex updates itself or should I re install?

Hi folks. I'm having trouble saving my ledwiz config. When i exit the plug-in manager and go back into it all my settings have gone back to default (i think). I can set each individual led using the input option (by input i'm assuming it means the physical input on the ledwiz) and set the RGB light intensity and then select a keycode (this is what button you have it mapped to on the keyboard - isn't it ?). The demo of the attract modes is pretty cool. Is there something outside the plug-in manager (setup wizard maybe) that i have to setup (input/keyboard settings ?). I'm using the mame default keymap on my ipac. I've either overlooked something or i'm doing something stupid. Nothing seems to be lighting up when i'm in the GameEX / jukebox (although i could be misunstanding how the plug-in was intended to work). I've not installed the Groovy Game Gear software either. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

ian.

Have you enabled the plugin? Little tick next to PluginLCD in the Plugin Manager? After you set everything up are you clicking save?

Yes, i have it enabled but the funny thing was i couldn't find a save button anywhere so i assumed that it saved on exit. Where's the 'save' button located ?

No HK, unfortunately not. The exit button is not there either.

Probably some kind of a resolution problem?

Possibly bkenobi. I don't know (much about pcs or GameEX) but i'm running at 640x480 (arcadevga) but i've a feeling it may be something else. I mean for the 'Save' and 'Exit' buttons to not show up on a form (i think that's the correct term) seems strange.

:blink:

The size of the plugin's form is 632 x 529 so it's off the screen. You will have to put your resolution up to configure it, then you can put it back.

Cheers HK. I'll give it a try. Don't know how to setup a secondary monitor to adjust the settings but i'll try & work it out and report back.

Install the ArcadeVGA quickres tool. Your ArcadeVGA card will run at 800X600 interlaced. Should be good enough to just setup the plugin.

Thanks for all your help on this folks. The nearest resolution i can get is 720x480. I have quickres installed but i also have refreshforce installed which filters resolutions/refresh rates out that your arcade monitor (d9200 in my case) cannot handle which may explain why i wasn't seeing the 200hz problem. I've tried a secondary monitor (pc) but cannot switch to it. Control panel gives me option of using ArcadeVGA or Secondary Monitor 9250 (which is the same chipset arcadevga uses and not the onboard graphics). I've looked in the bios to see if i had the onboard graphics disabled but no dice there. I'm gonna pm Jeremy (Circo) to see if he can provide more useful feedback as he seems to have a problem along similar lines but i find it strange that i can see the entire plug-in manager window and the 'Save' & 'Exit' buttons don't display.

Cheers,

iano.

Also this will work:

Click on special graphics (dont have to select something different). Then press TAB. Then press Space. That will Click "Save"

Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. I am running xp pro but it is not networked. I don't know about 'Special Graphics' (i'm a noob - sorry!). Where is it located (i haven't noticed this option before) - you're gonna need a lot of patience ! :D

I got my 800*600 mode back again and the 'Save' & 'Exit' buttons were there. So i configured ledwiz again (well as far i could - wasn't too sure how some of the options worked). I assigned all the leds keycodes (i'm using the mame default keymap) and saved and exited. I switched resolutions back to 640*480 and launched GameEX - none of the leds lit and i noticed that my custom buttons to navigate GameEX were not working. Now thinking i really screwed things up. I disabled my custom buttons in the Setup Wizard and launched GameEX. Buttons now lighting up and custom buttons are behaving as they should. I went back to the plug-in manager (switching back to 800*600 first) to make a couple of tweaks and 'Save' & 'Exit' buttons are not showing. I also noticed that my 'P1 Coin' had gone back to 'Nothing' when i had saved it to 'KEYCODE_5'. I've tried rebooting but still the same. Any help would be appreciated (i have to get this working !).

Cheers,

ian.

If your not doing any button re-mapping for games you don't have to add a keycode to each control. You can leave it on NOTHING. When you setup each LED, do they light up as you mess with the RGB controls? You should see each button on your CP light up and change color when you set them to the default colors that you want. The colors you set in there are the colors they stay lit as while you go through GameEx to select a game. If you have ColorsIni enabled it should show colors for each game as you scroll through the list. Also leave GameEx running for a while and when it goes to attract mode if you have some attract modes set it should start a nice lightshow.

Not sure why your having problems with Save and Exit not showing up. You can drag the window around if there is not enough space to show it on your screen.

Are you getting any lights showing up when running GameEx? You mentioned before that the attract mode test worked. Does it still work?

Hi HK. I think the 'Save' & 'Exit' buttons won't show at anything less than 800*600. When i turned back on my machine it was showing in quickres that the resolution was the one below 800*600 even though 800*600 is the one i selected (something funny going on there). I have to select mame on the start page before the leds turn on (is this normal ?). It works fine in telling what buttons to use for different mame games and changes the buttons color to reflect color on game cp but the attract mode doesn't seem to work at all outside the plug-in manager. I've every attract mode selected except the LWA one and to change modes every 10 secs. What does the Global option do under Ledwiz Options (i think) ? The leds just stay lit all the time in GameEX at the rgb colors i've set them to. Do the attract modes only work inside mame ?Do i have to have the GroovyGameGear software installed or something else in the plug-in selected to see the attract mode going (could be overlooking something).

Cheers,

ian.

Attract mode should work when GameEx goes into attract mode (screen saver type thing). Usually takes about 5 minutes of waiting without input.

The LEDs should stay lit all the time in GameEx for the colors your've set them too. When you browse Mame games they should change color.

Seems to me like it's working as I would expect. You just have to wait about 5 minutes until GameEx goes into attract mode. It has to be turned on in GameEx though.

Also I would probably turn on the lwa and plasma modes for attract. I think they look the best :)

Good luck!

Jesus Christ ! Dumbass strikes again ! I just after remembering i disabled that months ago in GameEX ! You mean where it goes thru MAME games type screensaver ? I liked the idea of that feature but turned it off because i could always see the windows command line box and it bugged the hell out of me ! Sorry to have wasted your time (and that i was of no help in beta testing - may not of been a bad thing though :lol: )

Thanks again,

ian.

I believe several versions ago Tom finally removed the command line box thing. It annoyed me too, but should be gone now.

Glad you got it working :)

Hey,

What is the ETA for PacDrive support.

I just ordered one :P

I use GameEX to play Muzac!

Not sure when I will get the time to add support for it. It's on my growing to-do list :)

It's a solid looking device though. I was actually going to see if you wanted it for your Jukebox project when I finished adding support for it! The offer is still there :)

But It dosn't dispay game details when Gamex is running...

I have ticked the LCD tab in the plugin manager..

The log says it has loaded LCD plugin.

I initialy had errors but i found the ini to have multiple displays set to the true state.

here is part of my LCD.ini...

[betaBrite]

Enabled=True

LCDSize=2

PortNum=1

BaudRate=9600

DataBits=8

Parity=N

StopBits=1

DisplayMode=102

TextColor=67

SpecialGraphics=0

P.s On a future update would it be possable to include an option where we can choose what is displayed. Ie game title only

Keep up the good work..
