Hi all.

I’m having an issue where GameEx is not displaying the image for Pixelcade when using the Favorites menu in GameEx.  This only occurs with games excluding Mame.  When using the emulator menu it works perfectly.

I took a look at the pixelcade log. When accessing the favorites menu, it identifies some console emulator files as Mame therefore can’t find the image (attached is a screenshot of the pixelcade log).  At times it won’t send the prompt to search for the image until after I load and exit an emulator.

I updated to the latest version of GameEx and the problem still persists.  Support at Pixelcade is saying that it is an issue within GameEx.   Does anybody have an ideas?

TIA

When reporting a potential issue with GameEx, please attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files, in addition to your Pixelcade log file (no copy and past or pictures of these files please).

Having not seen the files requested above, am I correct in assuming you are using the integrated MAME setup vs. an emulator slot?

Can you also attach your pixelcade log file?

As this may not be all or part of a GameEx issue, have you also reached out to LEDBlinky plugin author Arzoo at http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=profile;u=9562 or directly via [email protected]  to make him aware of the issue since his plugin is used to leverage LED Blinky?

I have the 128x32 Pixelcade panel. I have yet to fully activate it on my new gaming rig I purchased last summer, nor have I fully installed any emulators outside of the integrated MAME and a few customized Windows-based games lists, but hope to do so soon so I can better troubleshoot issues such as what you are reporting.

UPDATE: I was able to get Pixelcade updated on my rig and one thing I did notice is that when scrolled through the list of Favorites (which is mostly MAME entries and a few of the PC games I have installed, the default MAME marquee displays when the scroll highlights the selection. Stay tuned, I have an idea that may be a suitable workaround....

I was able to pull in some of the marques for non-Mame Favorites by copying the logo files I had for them into the \Pixelcade LED Marquee\mame where they displayed (horribly I might add but most are not formatted for LED display).

A few did not display but this may be caused by a naming fault - I was not able to locate the Favorites save location/file so will need @Tom Speirs to tell me where to look so I can confirm

The fault may still lie with how Pixelcade and/or LEDBliinky is/are not setup to read the GameEx image locations as configured within the GameEx Setup Wizard > Emulator Setup. Pixelcade is dependent upon explicit locations by system names of its choosing and not the frontend,

That may be an easy workaround if it’s just the titles in the favorites list.  Since it is looking for images in the mame folder, I can copy the two dozen or so images into the mame image folder.  Not ideal, but could “work” and wouldn’t be too time consuming.

One more thing to investigate would be mapping via console, csv which I came across the name when searching for similar issues: Console.csv not being used any longer? – Help and Support – Pixelcade Forum

The file is located within the \Pixelcade LED Marquee root folder.

More about it here: Customizing – Pixelcade

And here: pixelcade/console.csv at master · alinke/pixelcade · GitHub

I contacted both Arzoo and Pixelcade and they weren’t sure why this is happening.  I ended up using your suggestion of places nonmame games in the mame image folder.  It’s an easy workaround that hopefully will only have to do once

I've noticed some naming inconsistentencies between the supplied media names vs. the ROM names. Not sure this may be part or not, but something to be aware of if no media loads for specific games.
