Need help please after updating to the current version of GameEX 18.56

Hello!

I've updated my Arcade Cab with the most recent version of GameEx and I'm having some issues (previous version was 15.10)

I've attached my INI and Log files

Here are the issues that I am currently experiencing:

  1. GameEx seems to be locked into 640 x 480 or some lower resolution, the font/text is very large, I run my desktop in 800 x 600.  I've tried setting this resolution in GameEX but it does not seem to change
  2. All of my video snaps no longer show video for any emulators (I see a black box and I can hear the audio, but there is no video)
  3. When running mame games from GameEx I hear slight audio distortions (crackles, pops, stutters, blurred voices/music).  This only happens when running Mame64 from inside GameEx.  If I run Mame64 from the command line or if I run games from MameUI outside of GameEx the sounds and music are perfect.  I have not noticed any other sound issues when running other emulators from GameEx, it appears to be happening in just Mame games.  I've tried reinstalling my sound drivers numerous and still get the same issue each time.

It also appears that I cannot make some changes in the advanced config because it is showing that my version is no longer have a registered  (I paid for GameEx years ago, do I need a new key?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My system specs:
Window 7 64 bit (fully updated)
Core2Duo 8500 @ 3.16 GHZ
ArcadeVGA 5000 video card
Betson/Kortek Multisync CRT monitor

Tom will need to address any issues with your registry key but if you have you original key it should still work.

As for your config - all is loading up fine on my rig at 800x600. Not sure how to help triage this other than to ask:

- Do you have the most recent drivers installed for your GPU?

- What do your display settings in Windows show?

- Are you running the recommended Lav Codecs? If not, try uninstalling any other codecs you may have installed and try this as it may resolve your video snaps issue.

Hey Draco, thanks for replying.  I have the most recent drivers for my GPU installed, display setting in windows shows 800 x 600.

I installed the LAV Codecs and still having the same issues with my snaps not showing video (I can hear the audio but only see a black box).  Mame games are still having audio distortions when playing them in GameEx

Would you mind attaching an updated copy of your log.txt file? Also, what version of GameEx were you last using that worked without any issues?

Derp! You noted that in your original post. Being that I do not have your setup with the Arcade VGA GPU, monitor, or OS, I cannot replicate the issue. Since we are well past 15.10, it is possible that library updates and enchancements to GameEx may not cleanly support your kit. Tom would have the defnitive answer to that.

Someonthing to note Arcade#VGA MAME support is not available inthe 64 bit version of GamEex or the 32 bit version as of the last release.

That is just MAME support though.

If you have an arcade monitor you should look into groovymame and a used amd card. Not a huge cost. ArcadeVGA is old news, sorry.

Again, look into groovymame and emucrt drivers. Almost any AMD/ATi card will be more powerful than the ArcadeVGA although you will need to get one a few years old. You will need to research it. It should be way better.

(dont worry about the registration. i went free over a year ago),

Thank you for replying Tom.  It's unfortunate that GameEx no longer supports ArcadeVGA cards, I would imagine there are others out there like myself with multi-sync CRT arcade monitors that have enjoyed using GameEx for many years.   Thanks again!
