[RESOLVED] Populating Stem Games in GameEx Arcade

Been a long while since I started up GameEx  but I'm moving a custom cabinet I built with my father-in-law into my office and have a spare PC to run everything properly. Most of the info on Steam is now pretty dated, with Valve having even added things like two-factor authentication to the mix of things. Is there a known way to get the games to load, nothing I've seen so far seems to be currently applicable.

I haven't had any real issues using the integrated Steam support.

Do you have an actual issue? If so, can you provide examples and attach (no copy & paste please) copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files right after the issue occurs?

This is a bit more fundamental for the moment, I don't get a list of games (just the Redistributables which I mention below) but I see no means of providing a path or anything of the sort. Saw an old thread where someone had put their link urls that would kick things off into a folder but I don't see anything now over a decade later for configuring that so I assume it has been integrated somehow. I saw mention of a steam.ini file in another thread, but I don't have one and not sure what I could do with one from scratch if there's some guidance for that. I do see a steamdatav2.ini which I've also attached, it's just what was naturally in it, not a game obviously, but on my Steam menu that does show up. Just feels like I'm missing something key, but as much as I've looked around or toyed with what limited things I seem to have control over nothing has seemed to help.

Within the GameEx Arcade Edition Setup Wizard > Online Game Services > Steam, you can see the settings I use:

This is all I have setup for accessing games in Steam and they load without an issue. This is also a new PC with a recent Steam and games installation.  You may have to sign in initially with MFA on the same machine, but going forward it should not matter.

Unfortunately, Windows video recording would not capture my game launch from the Steam menu, but I have had no problems launching a game with these settings without Steam loaded in the task tray or from PC startup. Also, you probably need to be connected to the internet to access Steam and launch the games.

As for the references to a steam.ini file, that was likely an older thread for setting up Steam as a separate emulator prior to the integrated Steam settings.

OK, figured it out, they have to be installed in the main Steam folder with the primary install, they can't be in a path on another drive. Thankfully the games I can play on my cabinet should be small enough that it won't be a big deal. Thanks for the help, was good to see it does work for some reassurance I wasn't just wasting time.

GameEx shouldn't care where the games are installed. I typically have my Steam library installed on a separate drive from the Steam executable.

If that is working for you, you can install Steam and your games to a different and larger hard drive to remove any space constraints for your rig.
