trislaver
After several years of setup and tweaking, I finally got mame and about 20 consoles working wonderfully on my GameEx Adcade edition (ver.1.0.0.0), then, after downloading artwork & videos from GameEx, I saw that a Windows update had also downloaded and required a restart. I did the restart, and gameex no longer had any consoles listed. The setup wizard is completely empty. Is there a backup of my emulator and control settings anywhere in Arcade Edition? I am including the GameEx Arcade ini file and 2 screen shots. I would appreciate any assistance as my son loves playing these and he will be devestated if all is lost. Thanks in advance. My Gameex Ini file.txt My Gameex Ini file.txt
Draco1962
Can you please attach a copy of your log.txt file? You may have a backup within the \gameex\config folder named GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini . If have upgraded since installing it it should show the settings as of the last version you installed. Also, the latest version you installed can be found in the log.txt file. The file version in the exe properties doesn't reflect this.

Draco1962
Your log.txt file is located in the GameEx\log path.
Draco1962
From what I can see in the GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini file I have a few suggestions: - First, save a copy of the tbis file somewhere safe outside of the GameEx paths. If you have an MS OneDrive or Google Drive account that would be a good place. - Second, rename your GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini to gameex.ini after copying to backup & deleting the original gameex.ini file. This is where you can launch GameEx AE as a test to see if your emulators now show up and can launch. A suggestion for the future: Likely you have an older install. That's Ok - if it's not broke, don't fix it, right? But, should you run into any issues in the future, you may want to consider your install locations for GameEx Arcade Edition. I say this due to the MAME path showing as "C:\Emulators\Mame32\" due to probable heightened OS access criteria. I cannot tell where your GameEx Arcade Edition is installed, but if in the same place, something to consider if/ when upgrading to the latest version. Anyway... attempt the steps outlined and please report back with your results.

trislaver
OK, I copied and renamed the Gamex.upgradebackup.nin to gameex.ini and removed the old .ini. I now have 3/4 of the setups back (the date of the backup file was 2021) so I will have to re-add and tweak a bit again. I am also including the Log files in case that can shed some light on what happened. You have been a tremendous help with this and I can not thank you enough. Draco1962
You're welcome and glad that was of help! You are a few years out of sync with the latest version 18.51 (vs your 16.81 per the log.txt file). I looked at the log.txt and all dates are for today and nothing showing to possibly explain why that happened a few days ago - a good reason to supply the file right after the error occured. That it happened at about the time of an update you reported is probably about as good as it gets. No clue how/why it overwrote your gameex.ini file unless something happened during a write to the file. Wish I could help with more.
trislaver
Thanks again for all the prompt and kind assistance. You have saved me many hours of toiling away re-doing what was already done. AND I have learned something as well.
