The backglass doesn't show, the pindmd3 doesn't show anything, the backglass has the speaker graphics on it, and the virtual dmd is showing on my playfield.  

In attract mode the pindmd3 seems to work, and the backglass looks ok.  

All of this worked before I stupidly updated both VPX and PinballX incorrectly like a doof.  Thanks for all your help so far to get me back to at least this stage.

Ok, 1 step back :

PLease provide log and ini files.
Best way for PinDMDV3 in PinballX is best to have latest freezy DMDDevice64.DLL and dmddevice.ini copied into your pinballX folder

If You see your virtual DMD , set within DMDdevice.ini the pin2dmd3 to true and virtual DMD to false
