Hi,

I'm excited about GameEx because it has everything I wanted but I can't seem to run it on my PC ( I want to play around with it on my PC but can't wait to put it in my mame cab)

The log reads:

Don't know if this will help but when I first tried GameEx it ran into a problem trying to load the Daphne emulator which I didn't have installed. Once I disabled it GameEx loaded fine...

First thing, I'd like to know what OS your using as GameEx is detecting it as unknown. It may be a Beta or release candidate?

I think the problem is either down to your OS, or that your video card does not have enough memory. Does it share memory? If so try increasing it.

Hi,

I'm running Windows 98se ... come to think of it, it is odd that it's reporting as unknown (?)

The video card isn't sharing memory, it has 128mb on board.

As per usual, I did omit something that may be crucial, on first run, GameEx appeared to be running i.e I saw the 'loading' screen etc.. and then exited without showing the log.

On subsequent runs the loading screen doesn't appear but I can see the window being set up etc.. and then it exits and loads the log..

Got it working!

Tom, you were right, it had to do with the graphics card, I've set a lower resolution and presto, all is working! Thanks and apologies for the hassle...

BTW in case it happens again to someone else:

video card = NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 128mb

Resolution failed at : 800 x600

reso working at : 600 x 480

ArcadeVga working fine at 600 x288!

Hi, I am glad your happy now. I am a little concerned that it wont run at 800X600 on a 128mb card though. I obviously do all my development and testing on win2k and XP, but initially I tried hard to get it working on 98 and 98SE.

I would be really interested to know if you can get it running at 800X600 at 16bit colour and also give 1024 x 768 a try. It think this might be due to an old issue where GameEx would not run at the same resolution that the desktop was running at. Could that be it do you think?

640 X 480 is a little crappy unless your running in ArcadeMode.

Hi,

New here.

Tried to install GAmeEX and get error message on start up... 0xc0000135 aplication failed to initialize. Does anyone know what causes this???

Nevermind, .net framework wasn't installed. I thought i installed it a day or two ago but I system restored a day ago also... I must have restored before the .net install...

I hate doing fresh XP installs... so much stuff to get everything working

I think XP is a great product, but I know what you mean.

I would just like one button in XP, that says 'I am not an idiot, change all interface, network, file, and folder options and gui to that affect'. Server 2003 does that by default. :angry:

Oh, got the software up and running. Works great with mamefx32 / fceu / stella / zsnes.

One question. I can't get the save configuration button to work in the config program i.e. i've been changing all my settings through .ini file. Any clue as to what causes this. I'm not really one to complain about kicking through an ini but I like the gui for the config ^_^

Yeah, I noticed it saves after hanging for about a minute or so but still hangs. I have athlon xp 2500 with 512 ram. I didn't wait more than a minute though! :lol:

Anywho, I think i have everything setup the way I like it. For now!
