[RESOLVED] Gameex attract mode

Hi 🙂

I'm having some difficulties getting the atrract mode to work. It launches but returns to the menu after a couple of seconds. Not sure what is happening and why.

EDIT: It seems that the reason why attract mode is shutting down is because it tries to launch a game i dont have, as I can see in the log file. I tried to change the MAME Hall Of Fame file list to only list the games I have, but still it tries to load a missing game. Is there another HallOfFame list I'm missing???

What MAME version do you have installed?

This will need @Tom Speirsto review and address. I have tested and confirmed what you are reporting. 

I have confirmed that GameEx AE Attract/Screensaver also ignores the "Only Favorites" setting.

Works fine for me.

it looks like your configuring MAME as an emulator rather than using the specific mame support. Disable the MAME emulator. Then setup MAME under the MAME section.

Tom - I have MAME setup using integrated support. Attract mode launches from the Hall of Fame 88 games and ignores my Favorites.

Hall of Fame 88 games? What exactly is that?

88 Games is the first ROM that loads when Attract Mode starts.

You where right about it not working when adding MAME from the emulator list. Changed to the intergrated MAME, made the adjustments there and edited the HallOfFame list to only list the games I have, and it works great 🙂 

It also works if I use the:  only favorites option.

Though I'm not sure if it gives same result as Draco1962 describes if the HallOfFame file is not edited, as I did not keep the original text file. 🤔🙃

Thanks for reporting back and glad it is resolved for you.

I may have some other impacts so will pursue separately if I am not able to get it sorted.
