darrenmdeath Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Hello I am having a hard time getting Gameex working with WIndows 11. I have two windows 11 systems I am working with. I also have two windows 10 computers that work fine with GameEX. One of my windows 11 is working fine but the file picker only shows the desktop. It does not show the c drive. This is also occurring on the second windows 11 system. My work around is I cut and paste all file paths from file explorer into the setup tool. I am unable to use the file picker to configure the setup tool. On the second windows 11 system I can not get video snaps to work. I have the lav codecs installed. They work on the other windows 11 system but I can not get them to work on the second system. Thank you in advance for your help!
Draco1962 Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 For the impacted systems, please attach copies (no copy & paste) of your gameex.ini and log.txt files. A few questions: 1) For both systems, can you define and or provide a screen capture of what you are referring to as the "file picker"? 2) Are you using an official Windows 11 build or one that has been modified or "shrunk" or "debloated" via NTLite or similiar.
darrenmdeath Posted February 5, 2023 Author Posted February 5, 2023 Thank you Below are the files. Files 1. File picker: Example of what I am calling a file picker. 2. FP: There is a video playing in this example. I can hear the pinball sounds but do not see any video. 3. win: Windows version. Windows has not been modified. I do have three screens. 4. GameEx.ini, log.txt GameEx.ini log.txt
Draco1962 Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 First thing I notice is that, within your log.txt file it displays: 06:54:03.66 2/5/2023: GameEx Core x64: Version 18.36: Starting Log 06:54:03.66 2/5/2023: Unknown Operating System This is concerning to me and I recall seeing it before when another user reported a different issue. I am not sure if this is impacting your ability to browse to your drives or not. I attempted from my laptop running Win 11 Home with more recent build and WFE versions. No issues finding my drives under This PC. My suggestion for now is to upgrade your Windows installation and see if this resolves the issue and attach new support files if not.
darrenmdeath Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 So, I decided to blow away that system and rebuild. Its newish and I want to try and track down what the issue is so it was not a big deal to rebuild. I wanted to remove anything else I installed as a factor. This is a fresh install from a USB stick of Windows 11 Pro (no Mods). It is fully updated (Windows, Drivers, and Firmware) The only thing I have installed is GameEX and LAV codecs from GameEx website. Another thing I have noticed. The background does not show up on this system (I included an attachment). I checked the other Windows 11 system and it has the background. The picture I am attaching shows a black background (instead of the blue background that has the slight animation). This is the default theme. I have made no changes to GameEx after install. There just seems to be something odd about this computer and the way it is interacting with the GameEx software. GameEx.ini log.txt
