i just registered game-ex and am excited about the vert games bezel feature. I can't get it to work. I enabled it in the config. What else do I need to do? I have 2 folders in MEDIA with the game-ex bezel (BEZEl and BEZELV2) Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am using MAME32 version 110

Can you do the following:

Get a different mame version exe. Change it in the config. Then run GameEx. Exit GameEx. Change the MAME EXE back, run GameEx and post the log? Should help me figure out what's going on here. I think this issue may be to do with the MAME 1xx versions.

Thanks.

My bezels all work great. Of course, I'm using the GameEx bezel, but I haven't had any issues with MAME 0.110 to report.

Hi Adultry,

Could you help me out and do me a favor? Can you confirm update list works with verify roms on and with .110? Are you using command line or mame32?

Thanks in advance for your help, and thanks for all you've been doing.

Looks fine. Although I notice your using an intermediate MAME build. Which is really not a good idea, unless your a developer or MAME tester.

How exactly are bezels not working? Are there two files in the bezelv2 folder? If not install gameex again (no need to uninstall first).

Matbe you actually have some proper mame bezels (artwork) for the old version of MAME, you should remove these.

ok. I installed the proper versin of Mame32. I removed all the bezel files from the artwork folder in Mame. The only files left in there are the scanline artworks.

Yes. there are 2 files in the BezelV2 folder. I updated mame list in Game-ex. Still no bezel. Just black on each side.

When you run a vertical game, GameEx should be copying the GameEx Bezel into Mame's artwork folder. Can you check it's copying the files okay and that they are V2 bezel format.

Yes. the file gets written to the artwork folder and the proper V2 files are in the zip folder. then when the game escapes the file is deleted. Does this mean it's a MAME32 issue?

I don't think Mame is supposed to delete the artwork files. For me they remain, and GameEx does not overwrite bezels that already exist.

I fixed it!! I went into mame32 and set the aspect ratio to "Auto" :D thanks for all the help!

Mine get deleted when exiting the game. Is this not normal?

Tom:

I use vanilla MAME. I'm testing the update list with verify ROMs 0.110, but I always use the verify ROMs option. I will try again and let you know, but I'm 99.999% positive it works.

.:. EDIT .:. I stand corrected. GameEx looks like it's working fine, but the verify.dat process is hanging at 55%. mame.exe seems to be active in the Task Manager but I left it go for a half hour and no progress was made. It seems to me that everything was okay last time I updated MAME - for version 0.110 a couple days after it's release (since I had to run clrMAMEpro and get the new snaps). I almost want to say it was 7.02 when I updated.

Hope that's helpful. :)
