Thinking of getting a 120+ Hz monitor for my cab. So to see how my setup performs I turned vsync off and used Fraps to see what FPS I'd be getting in the most demanding tables. The good news for me is I seem to be able to get 120+ just about on all apart from maybe a couple.

But I noticed that PinballX was stuck at 60Hz. Can this be changed? Or will it change automatically if I get a 120Hz monitor and set that as a fixed refresh rate? Sorry if this seems a n00b question

Maybe a stupid question from my site, but why should the front end be higher than 60hz ?

It is mostly showing (animated) images and videos to show the table you want to play. And I asume your videos are captured with the max of 60fps (pinballx  creates the videos with 30fps, and gforce hardware capture with 60fps)

I bought recently a 165hz monitor, and all looks fine in pinballx. Still using my pf and bg videos from my previous monitor.

Only the interface has some issues and need to set it to 144hz to avoid it.

I dunno... thought the wheel might look a bit smoother at 120Hz. I take the point about videos, but I use static screenshots only. It's not a big deal. So it's fixed at 60? Just thought I'd ask.

Not sure, and not sure how I can check it. @Tom Speirsable to answer this ?

Well I bought the monitor today. They had an open box bargain so snapped it up while I could. Yes... PinballX is now running at 120fps same as my refresh rate. I was at fixed 60Hz before. The wheels movement is much, much smoother at 120Hz. Not of major importance of course, but quite nice to have.

Yup that was going to be my guess.. I had the same issue when I upgraded to 120hz.  I forgot to change my VPX resolution to use the 120hz version of the 4K res
