John Trahanas
Hi, A couple of years ago I created my own cabinet. I run my cab on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit OS. Last time I updated OS was almost 12 months ago. I an using PinballX ver 4.67 frontend to launch my emulators (Future Pinball, Visual Pinball versions, FX3) I remember last time I had problem with DOF Config, I updated the frontend to my current frontend version and I resolved it. Because I have spend many working hours to setup my cab, I don't update the frontend if I don't need to do it. A couple of days ago, I noticed that I can use animated gifs and animated png files for company logos. I have no problem with animated gifs but I can't use apng files. So I thought why not to update to the latest version of PinballX. I updated my system with the new PinballX version over the old one. When I tried some games PinballX crashes, mouse pointer becomes a dot and my taskbar is missing. I cloned my system to my previous state since I couldn't fiqure out what went wrong. Any ideas how to update to the latest version without doing a clean install. I don't want to spend many hours to setup frontend again or is there another way to play apng files with my current frontend pinball version (4.67)? scutters
Any chance you grabbed a copy of the pinballx log.txt file before you restored the clone?, that and a copy your pinballx.ini would file would help a lot. Otherwise it's just a guess, maybe you installed the .net core version and there's an incompatibility somewhere?, i'd suggest trying again with the pinballx xp/vista version - functionality is the same as the regular pinballx but it uses .net framework runtime libraries.
John Trahanas
Hi scutters, No I didn't grab the log file, but it is not a problem. As I mentioned I reverted to my previous state (thanks to cloning) but this is not a problem. I can try again and get a copy of all the logs before and after the installation of the latest version. And yes you are right, I did install the net core version. I didn't know the xp,vista version. I will try tomorrow again the net core version to send the ini and log files and I will wait for an answer. If there is incompatibility of the net core with window7 sp1 OS then I will try the 5.41 version. Does PinballX - Windows XP/Vista 5.41 support animated png logos? John Trahanas
Hi scutters, As I promised I uploaded in zip format ini & log files prior PinballX update and after the installation with net6 core just for checking what causes the error. Then I reverted back to my previous working state via cloning and installed PinballX for XP & Vista version (32bit). Everything is working as it should plus now I can use animated png files as company logos. So my new update is OK and I think this topic resolved. I will continue enjoy my cab with all hardware and visual toys working as it should. Thank you for your replies. Log-ini.zip 1
scutters
Looks like pinballx core v5.41 just crashed out after table launch with no error logged so not sure what the issue was, maybe a .net runtime thing with win7 sp1 Glad the 'legacy' version worked for you anyway
