Doosh
Hi Just trying out PinballX for the first time. 1. I have downloaded two types of tables VP922 and VPX. When selecting the VP executable under settings.exe in the "Visual Pinball" options -> executable field, it only provides for one type of VP executable. ie. If I select the VP922 executable, it can launch VP922 tables, but not VPX tables. Likewise, if I select the VPX executable, it can launch VPX tables, but not VP922 tables. What do I need to do under the "Visual Pinball" options (settings.exe) to get PinballX to execute both VP922 and VPX executable? 2. Do I need to pay a subscription fee to access the media files for tables? 3. I am wanting to play tables in landscape mode, so that the full screen shows the table playfield without the artwork in the background ... etc. How can this be done. Currently, the table on the screen is shown is portrait mode with artwork in the background...etc. The options that I have selected in setup.exe are: a) Under "General Settings" option, I have selected "Yes" for "Enable Desktop Mode". b) Under "Display Settings" option, I have selected "270 Degrees" for "Main Display Rotation" NOTE: I have tries all possible configuration of the above, and the results is the same (portrait mode with artwork in the background...etc). Please not that currently I am launching the tables using "Game Manager.exe" as I am still in the configuration phase. 4. I am finding it very time consuming where one table needs to be added through the "Game Manager.exe" one at a time. Is these a faster way of getting a bulk of table added to PinballX without individually adding table in "Game Manager.exe"? Thank you. D
scutters
A few quick answers; Normally you'd create another VP system (under Other Systems in settings). But if you don't think you'll have many VP9 tables in your final setup then you can use the 'alternateexe' flag in the xml to tell PinballX to override the normal executable used for a system, handy if you're dealing with a handful of tables. As you're starting out, setting up another system for either VP9 or VPX is probably easiest. For access to the FTP yes. But there is a vast amount of media freely available in the downloads section as well as in some media projects threads. You're talking about in game?. The options need changing in VP for that under the preferences menu 'Add missing tables' in settings (under general settings) should work to auto add them. Other stuff; Have a look at PinballX Database Manager as an alternative to Game Manager - i'm biased , but it has quite a few extra features (e.g. can auto add new tables and makes 'alternateexe' use a bit easier as well as lots of other stuff).
