I'm adding the polished touches to my cabinet and VPX setup, so this issue is not a major problem really. Just something within the learning process I'd like to resolve if possible.

When I'm browsing tables I've noticed that my undercab lighting and RGB flipper buttons light up as they do when the table is loaded, which is a really neat touch. But a few tables do not do this, even though they have undercab lighting in operation when loaded.

Most of these happen to be Original titles using romsets from other tables such as Willy's Wonderland, Magnificent 7 etc. Others don't have a DOFconfig made for them in the list such as Drop-A-Card. I use Smart undercab lighting in my config and have no MX or Complex selected at all. I prefer the single colour glow although some tables use a split sequence which does change the colour. Within the PinballX entry of DOFConfig I have @all RGB@ selected for Smart undercab lighting, but I don't really know what that means.

So my question is... is there a config or XML file anywhere I can edit to make these tables display undercab lighting while browsing in the frontend?

EDIT:  I have noticed that ACDC (Stern) shows incorrect flipper button colour within PinballX (yellow) but in game they are always red. Why is this? Slowly going through tables and so far all tables except this one do exhibit correct colours except instances where there is no DOF entry (then of course no colour at all). A very minor point, but I'd like to smooth this stuff out if possible. I'm on 5.02 by the way.

make sure you logging enabled in the DOF plugin.
Than launch PBX and sin the menu go to the table that is not showing what you expected), open in the plugin firectory "PinballX DirectOutput Plugin.log" This should show your table and if it can match something :
Something like :

21.12.31 09:31:33.868 Best match for PINEMHI WEEKLY CHALLENGE is PINBALL CHAMP (pinchamp). Match Value: 0,41025641025641

Now it should use the settings from pinchamp

But my assumption was that only the led matrix and flipper buttons  was defined in the DOF config tool and not the undercab lighting

Do you have a special version of the DOF plugin ?

Thanks for coming back on this Mike. I tried what you suggested. I had to enable DOF logging by swapping the word false to true in that short XML file.

I then launched PinballX and navigated a few tables to ACDC. This shows incorrect LED flipper button colours in PinballX. (Trivial I know)

But when I quit PinballX and tried to open up the DirectOutputPlugin.log file it just would not respond. I get the swirly icon all the time and it never opens. Windows says it's not responding. And it's 45KB big as well for such a small navigation.

I've gone back in and turned DOF logging off for now.

Odd. I'm able to open the logfile.

And an easier way to enable/disable logging, is to open PluginManager.exe from your Pinballx directory and click configure of the plugin.

Did you check ac/dc in the DOF config tool for the flippers color ?
An incorrect color will not showed in thelog file, and must be a config setting
I checked  DOF config, I see that there are multiple ACDC entries.

The default ACDC has for PBX and VP yellow buttons,

but the Limited edition has red

image.thumb.png.8874ba81048ff70f58ef3f37a89694b8.pngimage.thumb.png.55eb3c832325010e989ee119a0acf639.png
and the music table has blue flippers :P
(I don't have led flippers, so not able to check).

So my assumption is that the check to match your PinballX name to the DOF rom, is not matching the DOF config.

So for my cabinet, I see in the dof log :

21.05.17 07:04:36.370 Best match for ACDC is ACDC (acd_170). Match Value: 0,727272727272727
21.05.17 07:04:36.371 Game selected AC-DC ?? (Update sent)

This means my PinballX DOF is mapped to ACD_170 (thats with the default Yellow color), but my rom is the 170HC, and that maps the game to the red buttons.

I have uploaded a small change to Swisslizard plugin. It should give more hits and a bit better logging
If I have some time, I can modify the Plugin a bit, and if you have a rom in your table XML and will match first that rom, and nothing found, it will do the fuzzy search as it is now.

By default Databasemanager will tries to import the correct rom name from the VPX table to your table XML entry during import of the table (thanks to @scutterswho implemented this feature last year !)

let me know if it is a bit clear to you what I try to explain

Thanks for your detailed description Mike. It's getting a bit complicated now though. I went into that PluginManager.exe and the only plugin ticked for logging was DirectOutput by Swisslizard.

The AC/DC table I have is the AC/DC Luci with 170hc coloured rom. The DOF for that table (with that ROM) shows red coloured flippers. The ACDC with yellow flippers is for rom acd_170, as you say.

I tried changing the flipper colour from yellow to red for that table entry and copied over the new files, so now I only have two tables with red flippers and one music table with blue flippers.... but PinballX still lights the flippers yellow.

In my VisualPinball.xml file all the rom lines for every table are blank. Would it help if I put the rom (acd_170hc) in the rom line for that table?

Did you save the DOF config, download it put it into your DOF folder ?

As I don't have Flipper leds I'm not able to test it.
I created the wrong screenshots it should not be the flipper Button MX,  but with the name PBX in it
Can you try to copy the red line in :

Flipper Button PBX MX  ?

and process all ?
And maybe post your PinballX DirectOutput Plugin.log so we can see what matching is done

Sorry for late reply Mike. And thank you for your in depth response. I've only recently got time to look further into this.

But I'm not getting anywhere. Recently i did a full fresh install for a new processor and CPU (no, I didn't do all that for this issue ). So I'm bang up to date with the latest of everything.

For this RGB flipper issue (trivial though it may be) I have tried:

Renaming the game name in Games List Manager to "ACDC Limited Edition" which is exactly as it is named in DOF Config.

Adding the rom "acd_170hc" to the PinballX database XML file. The rom name was previously empty (as all tables seem to be)

Removing any unused ACDC roms from my VPinMame\Roms folder (as I only use the altcolor acd_170hc)

I got the logging to work this time and I can see every time I get to ACDC in PinballX the log file says "Best match for ACDC is ACDC (acd_170). Match value: 1

As I final attempt I went into the standard ACDC entry in DOF Config (for acd_170 rom which it keeps matching to)... and changed all the flipper entries from yellow to red (including both MX and PBX MX to "ON Red"). And STILL they light yellow in PinballX

I don't have rgb flippers and not able to test. But my assumption was that the 'Flipper Button PBX MX' entry should be used within PBX

Does all the tables has yellow buttons in pbx, or just acdc not matching ?

and if you have dof config version 1.4 (see download section), rom  acd_170hc should match to DOF table 'ACDC Limited Edition'

YEEEEEESSSSSS!!!   Haha.  Success at last.  To answer your last question it was only ACDC table that had incorrect coloured flipper button in the FE.

The solution was to update te DirectOutput PinballXPlugin.dll file to the latest through the link you provided in your last post. That file is dated 15th Jan.2022, but mine was dated April 2021.

Thank you for all your help. Ironing out these final little niggles is taking some time. And the more "trivial" they seem the more difficult they are to pin down.

Onto my next one... new post incoming.  :P

Because of your issues, I took the code and made some huge changes in it.
And thanks to all the people that maintain DOF, they added new stuff that I added on my local copy as well.
Glad your issue is fixed ! And I have finally a good LED MX on every table :D
