I'm having trouble running Model 2 games with version .3 of the emulator and GameEX 7.02. I have read the numberous posts below, and tried all the other options listed above in the submitted configs. It seems like the only m2loader that works at all for me is Tom's, but unfortunately it selects the wrong games ( I assume because of the 2 games that were added in version .3). Does anyone have a version that works properly now, or is Tom working on an updated version?

Thanks!

Yeah go to the config sticky and download nologic's m2loader. Just like Tom's but it reads the correct games. Atleast for me it does.

Yeah I have two in there...so you'll have to decide how you want things.

If you just want to keep the same behavior...then download the one marked GameEx, and simply drop it in over writing Toms original.

If you select the other one...well there's more work to be done to get it to work correctly...but this way it will be treated like any other Emu.

Maybe you guys can do a test for me. Can you place the attached m2loader in your model2 emulator folder, and create a shortcut to it.

Eg.

"C:\Emulators\Model2\m2loader.exe" overrev

Try a few ROM names other than overrev; bel, doab, lastbrnx, skisuprg, vstriker, zerogun etc.

When you launch the shortcut does it hilight the right game?

sure thing

edit: works fine for me.

Does gameex actually call upon this? If so, is there a way to make it go fullscreen after the game is loaded? I know how to do things like that the long way using closemul and such, but that is also assuming I have a full command line to work with - the way model2 is integrated into gameex, it only assk for the path to the .exe file, ya know?

when i run gameex the screen goes black and I hear an error beep.

If I alt-tab to the model2 window I see the text:

could not start video subsystem

with a windows error windows over that.

If i hit escape it all drops back to gameex.

Thanks for your replies.

I believe I tried all the ones posted above in the submitted config area, and none of them seemed to work for me. Could you please link me to the one that works, or repost it here? Thanks!

Model 2 Emulator v0.3 GameEx

Unzip it into "C:\Program Files\GameEx" or what ever your actual path is to the main GameEx folder...besure to over write the one that is currently present.

Thanks, but this does not work for me.

It starts up fine, but never goes full screen and stays in a small window, and it selects the wrong game (off by one).

Thats probably caused by using a different font size or theme than what was originally used by windows.

That and I did alter some values to where they seemed to have worked better for me...but maybe what Tom was using was a better average.

The main part that got altered is bellow:

; Launch Game
WinWaitActive ( 'Load Rom' )
WinSetOnTop ( 'Load Rom' , '' , 1 )
MouseClick ( 'left' , 65 , 79 - 30 , 1 , 1 )
MouseClick ( 'left' , $MouseX , $MouseY - 30 , 2 , 1 )

I think Tom used a "- 15" to my "- 30" or some thing different all together...its been a while...hehe maybe Tom will need to hack, my hack of his work. ;)

Hmm that is strange. That is not the full version of the wrapper, that is a test version which is only supposed to hilight the game, not run it. The full version of the wrapper is the one that comes with GameEx. GameEx copies the m2loader.exe from the GameEx directory to the model2 folder then launches it from there.

Attached is the full version that should be with GameEx, but make sure you copy it to the GameEx folder if you are trying to launch from GameEx. If you have problems, get back to me perhaps I can fix this wrapper once and for all.

It's a bit hard to fix a problem that I can't replicate or understand what is going on. That is why I posted a test version of the wrapper in post #4. If it's hilighting the game, then I know at least the problem comes after I select the ROM from the list. If you have a look at the attached picture, it's what I expect you to get if you follow my instructions in post #4 using overrev as the command line argument.

@headkaze

your test version works fine (at selecting a rom) however the complete version posted above does not work (for me) and the version that comes with the latest gameex does not work (for me). the model2 emulator will start but then immediately exit.

i even tried nologic's but had similar problems. it did not select the correct rom and it does not enter fullscreen.

I'm still having issues with the wrapper that comes with GameEx. I can use Nologic's fine. The 1st game I tried with the wrapper included in GameEx loaded fine. The next game I had a black screen and heard a dink/doink sound. I noticed If I Alt+Tab and switched the focus to the emu it worked fine. So it seems to launch the correct game and start but not switch focus to the emu to display.

Hmm, try this attached version. I've added back in some code that should make sure the window is at the front. Let me know how it goes.

Thats good news. If other people who have had problems with the wrapper in the past try this one too. I've sent this to Tom to include in the next version of GameEx.

Great Job Headkaze! I had given up on version .3 of the emulator, and was using version .1 with GameEx.

Everything works great with version .3 now and the original games, but I cannot get the 2 new games (over rev and sega ski super) to show up on the game selection list in GameEx. I have tried updating the MAME game list, but they still do not show.
