But when i open disc in other computer it just shows as a file,i tried to copy and paste it here but it would not let me it said this extention was not allowed.

On properties it says unknown application, could be the app i coppied it with

ROXIO

Anybody had this problem or has anyone saved this reg key to disc and used it again all help will be appreciated as i need this if i have a crash or to format

there is no reason why the file cant be copied to any form of media.

You have saved the attatched file to desktop for example and not just copied the email?

the pc you try and run the reg file on will allow you to run the file type

also when you have put the file to disc will it work on the pc you created the disc with??

Just go into your registry and modify it to your registry hack Tom sent.

Hi Michael and RICCI

THANKS FOR REPLYING

tried 3 times with this,i saved attachment to desktop.clicked it to install.

All worked ok so dragged it to roxio and coppied to disk.

Opened disc and it showed just as it did in attachment, but when i put it in other comp it just looked like a windows file and when i clicked it said windows cannot open this file, but it will open on the comp i coppied it from.

I have tried all sorts to get file back to as it was but missing something.

hope i have xplained it the best i could sorry

thanks a lot for your help

cheers Peter

Hi Ricci not sure what you mean as regards hack registry

Are you using the same type of Windows on both machines? If you're using Win 98 on your cab machine for example, you'll have to enter the contents of the registration file into your registry manually.

The reg file is just a text file with a .reg extension. You could simply copy it as a .txt file and when you get it over to the other computer, rename it to .reg. Or you could open notepad on the other computer and manually type the info from the reg file and save it with the same name as the reg file, including the .reg extension. If having trouble in a win 98 environment, you may have to change the first line from "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" to say "REGEDIT4" according to this page at MS http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516 as win 98 used version 4.

right clickin on the file and choose "open with" and find registry editor if its not on the list browse and find it in system32 folder "regedt32.exe"

and choose always open this type file with this program this should solve the problem (for winxp)

Hiya again-

Are you comfortable working within the registry? Or, are these computers networked? If they are networked, just create a folder, put the hack into the folder, then share the folder on your network. Go to the computer that you want it on, and it will be there (in workgroups/shared files)

Hi Michael

yes that worked i can see it on laptop now,but i have not tried it on games machines yet as i have to put

media player 9 in and netframework 1.1.

But if i dont get it i will be back.

And Ricci

the post below michael,

i am not used to registry (wish i was) but i would probably get into more trouble,i have changed folders before but i did not know where reg 32.exe was but between you both i THINK i have got there.

Just have to try and get gameex to do its thing now,but think i will have to buy some 109 mame roms.

As tom has said in his writeup your better with new version of mame,so i will have to have roms to suit.

I have version 0.91 of mame which works ok with the roms 3000 plus but in gameex it only shows 106.

but i will keep at it.

and thank you both very much for your help and anybody else that chipped in.

cheers Peter

ps yes they are wireless networked but i dont have a card in games machine and if i connect cocktail up to ethernet downstairs it cannot read comp upstairs and email from tom is on this the upstairs one.

I have not got them to read each other yet upstairs reads downstairs but downstairs will not read upstairs ( i dont know will i ever get sorted)

THANK YOU

Hi,

There should be no problem saving the file, but how the key works depends on when you got it.

Newer ones wont open unless gameex is installed. I think that may be where your getting confused.

Newer ones also work on windows 98, but you have xp anyhow.

If anyone has any kind of registration issues thats one thing I support directly one on one, so please email me if you still have problems. I can always email you a new key too.

Thanks,

Tom.
