[RESOLVED] GameEx AE v16.80 - Stuck in Update List? Loop

I was attempting to troubleshoot another's issue with tokib not showing in his list of games. I am now unable to get MAME to run via GameEx AE after adding tokib to the Do Not Filter list. I have attempted removing tokib from the gameex.ini but to no avail. I hadn't updated to v16.80 at the time so I did and same issue. The last time I had to Update List was probably 6-8 months ago or maybe longer.

For what it's worth, I am able to launch tokib and other ROMS directly from my MAMEUI64 version.

I downloaded/installed 16.81 and same issue. If it isn't GameEx or AE what could be the cause?

As noted previously, there hasn't been any issues with running MAME games and no need to Update List since 1/27/21 (so much more recent than my recall of 6-8 months). The specific date was when I was attempting to troubleshoot a MAME ROM bezel issue (ROM would not show in display so added it to "Do Not Filter" list and did an "Update List" within.

I have GameEx still at v16.78 and before I performed a list update, launching was fine. After Update List, same issue as is occuring with AE now through v16.81.

I really don't know buddy. I just tested with latest MAMEUI64.exe and its working fine for me. Did you check on that exe?

I can try upgrading to the latest but will be a while before I can do so. 

I checked the Windows Event Viewer and nothing shows. That it has run for over a year with this version of MAMEUI64 is puzzling. 

Will update here once I have upgraded and tested.

The bug I fixed is that sometimes it changed the MAME exe although that does not seem to be the case on your setup. Can you send me the ini please? Then I will investigate further.

Mame.ini? If the gameex.ini, it is in the first post for v16.78. Will have to wait until this evening due to work.

Sorry for delay. I have now checked it all out.

My conclusion is I think you must have been using a different mame exe but  the bug changed it.

MAMEUi does not work well updating the list. It is working but produces dialog boxes on the verify. You would have noticed it if you were using that exe.

For GameEx just use Vanilla mame.

If that does not work, please let me know.

I had seen some of the dialog boxes you noted before, but I was able to get past them. Now the do not even generate.

Tested with "vanilla" MAME64 v0.222 (will update to 0.229 later when more time available) and all appears to be working. Shame that MAMEUI no longer works for me. I may give it a go when I update to the latest just to see if it might have been a corruption of the install itself.
