All Mame vertical games showes theme videos in tate mode

When i select for instance 1941 the video theme in the background is displayed in a 3 to 4 ratio and there for looks squeezed and has black bars to the left and right. this applies to every vertical game and only to mame not the other emulators.

if i change from wheel view to thumb view or grid vies the 3 to 4 ratio still remains in all vertical games. i looked in the setup if there is a option to turn of such behavior but could not find it. The videos are 100% 4 to 3. Gameex seems to look into the mame files if a game is vertical and then applies a 3 to 4 ratio for people who want to play with a tate monitor.

How do i deactivate this so that all videos are displayed in normaly?

If possible, can you confirm if this is occurring when you run the default - default theme? Report whether or not the issue persists and attach a log.txt file. Thanks!

EDIT: I see you are back to using your 640x480 IRON FIST theme which you previously reported as problematic but noted you were moved on to the Blue Box theme.

I did run the default theme and it does still show vertical games with black bars to the left and right.

Gotcha. Thanks for providing the files. I'll have to look at it this evening (work at present). 

Another question or two - is this issue a recent one? If so, when did you first notice it?

I noticed it two days ago as i was scolling through my mame games., it is a very new problem that cant exist that long. Maybe the 16.76 started to introduce the bug to my gameex.

GameEx has always done this as far as I know. What videos are you using?

I did use the seperate speesoft artwork fetcher (can not recall the name at the moment) for emumovies. There I did select mame and choosed video themes. I did check the video properties and all videos does have the same resolution. Something like 1444 x 1080 60 fps. When played in a Videoplayer all videos are covering the whole screen, not stretched or not squished. Why is gameex squishing vertical game videos, at my end this looks terrible. I'm using 4:3 TVs or a Arcade monitor. Any way to stop that?

Its not supported in GameEx to use 4:3 videos for vertical MAME games but as a workaround you could edit \data\gamelist.txt and do a search and replace |V| with |H|
