Hi all,

Now that I have an arcade cabinet with PS1 and PS2 emulators via a Windows PC, I'm wondering if the various Guitar Hero roms can be played with an actual Guitar Hero guitar.  Has anyone been able to do this and if so, how?  When I was using an actual PS2 and playing GH, I only used the PS2 controller.  It wasn't until I got a 360 and played Rock Band did I have an actual RB guitar.  I liked many of the songs GH used and would like to play those via the emulator but would like to get a GH guitar to do so.  Is this possible and if so, besides a GH guitar, would I need something else to connect the guitar to the cabinet/PC?  Is it a wired connection between the guitar and a USB input on the PC?

Any help/advice is appreciated!

On further "googling" appears results are mixed. If you get this figured out please share back with your setup.

Ive had guitars on my cab for a long time and have used various connections. I'm not sure if you want to stick with Playstation Emulation but if not I've been using CLONE HERO with all the Guitar Hero games and Rock Band song packs. It has a great system built in to detect the Guitars youre using.

Just my 2 cents. Rock On

Just getting my system back up and running after being down for a year.

I'll be asking lots of questions as I try to remember what I did to get to where I was.

Phantom - I was recently made aware of Clone Hero and have been getting the emulator and songs, but it didn't seem to pick up my guitar.  Do I need something additional for that?  I have an Xbox 360 Rock Band guitar but it's not finding it.  I have a USB dongle that I bought for my PS4 controller to be used with the emulators and that supposedly can work on up to 7 devices but so far, no go....

Do the guitars show up in the USB GAME CONTROLLERS config in windows? If not then it’s a driver or hardware issue, if they do then you can focus on a game issue.

I had to buy a wireless receiver to get the guitar to work but upon first try, so far so good.  Now I gotta figure out why some songs are "bad" and correct those.

Glad youre up and running. I rememebr having to "fix" my songs too but honestly I don't remember exactly how I did it. I do know I used MIDIFIX which you drop the folder on the executable and it "fixes" a bunch of stuff. But I was also coming from Frets On Fire and Phase Shift so my songs were all over the place.

But I have a pretty good clean list now.
