Might help if you attached your .bat file and the usual gameex.ini and log.txt files needed when assisting on a reported issue.

Out of curiosity, why are you launching Word with GameEx?

@Draco1962 'CloseAndRestartGameEx.bat' is the default value for the CMD parameter for the 'Close and Restart GameEx' External App option.  It is a preconfigured External App option when GameEx is installed. Oddly enough, that batch file does not exist in the current GameEx install, so I will message Tom about it as I assume it is an minor oversight.

@cnells2000 I suggest that you set up a 4th External Application like the following (assuming the path you listed is correct):

WordConfig.jpg

Hope this helps. Thanks!

@RedDogI asked as I wasn't certain of he was actually attempting to use the batch file.

If attempting to launch an app, is it possible that GameEx is expecting the batch file and failing as us being reported? Hard to know without referencing the requested support files.

@Draco1962 @RedDog ok guys sorry i was gone for so long. hope this helps. i have the batch file running correctly out of GEX, but when i launch it inside, i get what you see on the video. it makes my taskbar dissapear and i have to use ctrl alt delete everytime to restore my taskbar back to normal.

included are the support files.

btw my .bat was converted to an exe. both apps act the same regardless of either i use.

An  observation and a few questions:

First, iIn viewing your log.txt file, I noted that you are running on a very old version by today's standard - v14.44. We are currently on v16.74. I will ask that you upgrade to the latest at this time. and attach new support files with the log.,txt file from right after the failed attempt.

Second, has this ever worked for you in the past or is this the first time attempting?

Third, please attach your batch file from before your compilation. It generally possible to launch an application from  its shortcut or .lnk file.

I am going to tinker a bit as I think this is a doable thing, but you must upgrade to the latest as many enhancements and bug fixes have occurred since March 2016!

I tested this and it works just fine without a batch file unless you are doing something extra.

To load properly, I found the MS Word shortcut file, right-clicked on it and then went to Properties and copied the file path to the path field. In my case, MS Word is installed to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\

The exe is WINWORD.EXE for MS Word 365 and has been that for prior versions. Unfortunately the Windows 10 Video capture stops as MS Word is opening (likely because of the way  GameEx hands off to the application. It does the same thing when Word is closed.

THe Only reason im running this version is no matter what i do or how many times ive tried the new versions will not play the attract screensaver or the video selection wont play my movies or videos. ive tried so many times to use the new version. doesnt matter if ive installed lav filters or not. as soon as i install ver 14.44 the media section works just fine. i dont use emulators with gameex much anymore as ive found that this is one of the best media centers ive ever used. So that what i use.

I understand. It may or may not be something that can be resolved. Tom will have to explore that if he hasn't already.

What about the suggested steps I provided for setting up Word?
