techturder
Hello everyone - Hoping you can help me. I recently installed GameEx Arcade Edition on my Windows 10 machine. It launches, but will immediately freeze / hang after the main menu appears. I've tried several troubleshooting steps to no avail: - Deinstalled / Reinstalled - tried both 32 and 64 bit versions. Tried it just uninstalling the program / as well as deleting all files left behind in the GameEx folder - Removed all emulators / configs and tried running with a "barebones" MAME setup - changed my ROMs folder to a folder with only 3 working ROMs. Still froze. Tried with both MAMEUIFX64 and regular MAME64 interface - Tried launching without running Setup at all - just out of the box. Still freezes - Tried launching without downloading any artwork, etc. - Ran GameEx "as Administrator" FYI, I have registered and loaded my registry key properly. Not sure what the issue is. I've attached my System Info / DxDiag as well as my Logs from GameEx. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Draco1962
Can you attach a new copy of only your log.txt file after redownliadinf and installing v16.74? Your current log.txt file shows: 20:20:51.68 12/12/2020: GameEx Arcade Edition: Version 16.73: Starting Log Also, please only attach copies in .txt or .ini format without copy and paste in the forum thread as some of us may be reviewing in text editors vua smart phones when away from our PCs. Thanks.
techturder
Here you go. FYI- last log entry is "attempting to load game list" - but even if I install fresh without setting up anything / no games - it still freezes. Thanks for your helplog.txt
Draco1962
Looks like it is failing while attempting to load the game list: 22:00:26.99 12/18/2020: Attempting to load game list Is your OS up to date and a full install vs an "enlited" or stripped down version? techturder
Yeah, like I mentioned, I don't think my "game list" has anything to do with the actual issue. To demonstrate, just moments ago I deinstalled, deleted the GameEx folder completely, reinstalled, and didn't setup anything. Just ran the application out of the box. It still freezes right after the main menu loads. I have attached my log file so you can see - it says the same thing "attempting to load game list". Running a full legit, up to date version of Windows 10 / regular installation. Attached my System Info in the original post if that helps. Any other suspicions around what might be causing the issue? log.txt
techturder
@Tom Speirs - do you know what might be causing this? Thanks for your help
Tom Speirs
Looks like it might be your MAME exe that is causing the issue. Otherwise try selecting the run fullscreen windowed setting under display settings.
