I'm trying to set up GameEx with WolfMAME to Twin Galaxies specifications for official record registrations.

These are the steps made:
1) I did a clean install of GameEx without adding emulators
2) I created a Wolfmame folder with the latest version 0.225 inside
3) in SetupWizard -> MAME Settings, I changed the attributes to point to the WolfMame, then I put the value "-record lastgame.inp" in the "MAME Options" field so that it can record the game (as per Wolfmame specifications and working from command line)

I started GameEx, ROMs correctly read, but on game execution it flashes white and then returns to the menu.

If I clean "MAME Options" field value in SetupWizard the game starts correctly (obviously without recording session)...

Has anyone tried to get WolfMAME working with GameEx successfully?

I thank you advance

Antonio

Please attach copies (no copy and paste) of your gameex.ini and log.txt file when the game launching error occurs. Thank you.

Attached you can find log for a single launch for Galaga.

The strange thing that with dkong rom, everything goes very well.

But with Galaga and others ROMs on game execution it flashes white and then returns to the menu. From command line Galaga works very well.

This is the command line functioning from shell:

mame64 galaga -record lastgame.inp

Thanks

Antonio

A few questions and suggestion.

Do your ROMS match the version of MAME you are running?

When you launch the ROMS from command line outside of GameEx do they work as expected?

Have you tried running WolfMAME in an emulator slot instead of the integrated MAME section? If not, please test it there and report back with your results.

The integrated MAME within GameEx is optimized to work with official MAME builds and this optimization may not work well with derivative builds.

Here are the answers:

"Do your ROMS match the version of MAME you are running?"

I don't know: how can I know MAME version compatibility of the ROMs? I know that every ROMs are been tested successfully by me with Wolfmame.

"When you launch the ROMS from command line outside of GameEx do they work as expected?"

Yes, they work as expected when I execute from command line and Mame64.exe of WolfMame

"Have you tried running WolfMAME in an emulator slot instead of the integrated MAME section? If not, please test it there and report back with your results. "

No, I haven't. Tomorrow morning I will try and will report back here.

Thank you

maybe I'm incapable: I configured a new  Wolfmame emulator and brought MAME Settings back to its original values. Launched GameEx and now ther is no more emulators available, neither MAME nor Wolfmame...

And more every time that I launch GameEx and everytime I exit appears the Nag Screen for 20 seconds, despite having paid the annual license... I don't know why. Better to reinstall GameEx? Maybe Evolution version?

I think you may have gone beyond what should have been necessary to test running WolfMAME as a stand alone emuluator. All that should have been needed was to copy & paste the  paths and command line into the Emulator from the integrated MAME setup.

I would recommend reinstalling GameEx and find your regkey in your original email and apply it if reapplying the reg key alone does not remedy the nag screen issue. Incapable? Probably not.  Also, when making any changes and running into an issue, please attach the log,txt file as well. Thanks.

Thanks Draco. These are my steps after your tips:

1) I reinstall GameEx Arcade Edition

2) Applied RegKey sent by Tom

3) Configured a new emulator Wolfmame with specific command line:

mame64 [ROM] -record "[ROM].inp"

4) GameEx starts correctly without Nag Screen and WolfMAME ROM's start correctly.

5) Back to SetupWizard, added another MAME emulator from "Emulator Selection" (the [Arcade] Arcade (MAME)). The goal is using standard MAME without recording INP file, sharing the same ROM path setup for WolfMAME

6) GameEx starts but Nag Screen has appear again!!! Both MAME and WolfMAME ROM's start correctly

The strange thing is that for "[Arcade] Arcade (MAME)" game list is perfect with artwork and video downloaded, but WolfMAME doesn't: no titles, no artwork, no videos.

I attach you screenshots, log and ini.

Thank you very much in advance.

I will take a look at the files this evening and get back to you regarding the media. Not sure what is going on with the registry issue.

As I suspected, you do not have your media paths for WolfMAME setup to the same media paths as your MAME setup. Correct this and you should be golden.

Hi Draco,

sorry but I can't find any difference between [Emulator 1] and [Emulator 2].

What do you mean with "media paths"?

In logartworkdownload log file (attached) I see only "MAME" and "Mame" scanning but no Wolfmame... maybe the paths that you told me?
