Multiple MAME32.exes running in the background

Searched the FAQ and forums and didn't see a hit for my problem. I have a dedicated MAME cabinet that was running V 6.9?, but I just upgraded to 7.01. I have seen this behavior at several release levels for GameEx so I don't think the upgrade is going to fix my problem.

Every once in a while, mainly during parties I will notice the entire system getting choppy and unresponsive. When I exit out of Gameex I find multiple Windows command prompts open in the background, all with a path that leads into the GameEX program directory to something called "GameEx.lnk". For as many command prompt windows as I find open, I can see in task manager an equal number of MAME32.exe processes running, all consuming up the available CPU resource between them. I clear out the command prompt window and kill the MAME32.exe processes, but this situation seems to pop up every time the cabinet is used heavily by newbies (or heck, I could be doing this as well).

Any ideas if I have something configured wrong? MAME32 is really the only exulator I'm running right now, and GameEX is registered if that makes any difference.

My game controller is a Slikstick configuration if that helps as well.

TIA,

Kyle

Turn on debug mode and show desktop. See if you notice new instances of mame32 when starting a new game.

Looks like I'm having the same issue. I think I've localized it to the screensaver. I start Gamex, let the screensaver activate, then press a joystick to exit it, and finally exit out of Gamex. Then I bring up the task manager and there is an instance of mame32 still running.

I know it's screensaver related, because if I let the screensaver activate X times, then there are X instances of mame32.exe running.

Using:

mame32 0.104ue

gamex 9.13 registered
