So I am using GameEx Arcade and the Draconus Theme, I know my way around the config file pretty good but for the life of me can't figure this one out, My question is, How do you get the video background to stay playing when you stay too long on a game title, For example from main menu go to nes then on any game the video snap and game info will display and the background video that i have is playing, Then after 5 seconds the screen kinda fades the video background out and it just shows game title and video snap for said game.

I do not run any emulators other than those supported via the integrated setup in AE.

That said, I am not able to easily reproduce what I believe you are describing.

Can you attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files with the log file from during the time the background video expires?

also so i'm explaining it correctly, this is with video themes on and when you are on a title and let it sit for 5-10 seconds, if i can figure out how to do a vid capture i will share that also ,thanks

We are currently on v16.43. Please download, install, and report back if the issue is resolved and, if not, attach an updated log.txt file.

When I return from work today I will see if my system produces the same results. If someone else can test in the interim, all the better.

I tested this and with the theme videos I have for MAME and DAPHNE by CriticalCid and running via the integrated support, I am unable to replicate the issue unless I set my Attract/Screensaver to 5 or 10 minutes via the  Setup Wizard.

Per your gameex.ini file:

AttractModeTimer=5

EnableStartScreenSaver=True

Disable this or extend the time out to 20 minutes and see if the theme videos for each game are playing correctly.

If not, then you may need to check your media. Are you using the CriticalCid Unified Themes videos or a mix from his and other sources? If a mix, you may want to check the theme videos by loading them in a video player and see if they are set to loop by default.

So i guess there was a little error on my part, the concern is the background video , even if i have the video themes turned off it still does it, i will make a video and upload in a few, thanks

OK so you are running a custom video background for MAME, and your emulators, so the issue is not with the theme videos. I just disabled my theme videos and only had a background video playing for several minutes without the fade to the video snap as you noted.

I still suggest checking the videos you are using for the background video to ensure they are set to loop. That is the only thing I can think may be at fault at the moment and look forward to seeing your video.

Yes it is custom videos and i have disabled video themes(meaning i turned off auto artwork download and redirected video theme folder) my custom video is on loop and it worked before the video themes downloaded , that i can remember. here is a video of what happens, it shows video and then it goes away and then the screen fades out to just show title and game snap

Alright I think I see what is happening. GameEx Arcade Edition now creates dynamic video themes on the fly if there are no video themes present for the individual title but video snaps are present. The video is similar to what you posted.

Yeah i saw that post.It is similar but i have video theme off and the folder redirected, thats why i was confused. Is there a way to disable that feature in the config? and also since i got you. Is there a way in the theme editor to create for GE arcade or is it only regular gameex

Theme Editor only works for regular GameEx (hence why I split your post from that topic).

The only way to disable the feature would be to redirect the videosnap location for each emulator.

It appears Tom has hardcoded the feature so it would require an enhancement request to set the feature to be enabled/disabled.

Okay, so i redirected all my video theme locations for all emulators and the background videos still do not play, the video theming has gone away but no background videos, I guess i will try and submit a request for a change for settings or something
