Hi,

I just started messing with old Dos games with Dosbox.

I have it running ok but I'm having an issue with Snaps.

So I have a menu in GamEx that scans a DOS folder for *.exe's

The problem is that many games are started with Sierra.exe so in my list many different games share the same Snap that's called Sierra.

I can't rename the EXE because it breaks the game, I can't make shortcuts because Windows 10 has an issue making them for old programs (spent hours looking into it)

I settled on using AutoHotKey but if I do something like (run, "E:\Games\PC\Dos Games\Commander Keen 1 Marooned on Mars (1990)\keen1.exe")

it will load but then I'll be brought to the dos command prompt waiting to enter the proper command.

Anyone have ideas on how to get around this?

Thanks

First I've heard of creating shortcuts being a problem in Windows 10. Can you provide more detail on what you were attempting along those lines and maybe attach a copy of your shortcuts you are trying to use and the path information?

Also let's see your latested gameex.ini and log.txt files.  Thanks.

Also, I don't know if you have considered running D-Fend Reloaded to launch your DOSBox games. A very detailed setup instruction provided below. A bit dated but should probably still work.

And here is another thread that is more recent with some references.

Hey Draco1962 I figured it out.

Had to dust the cobwebs off the DOS area of my brain, but I just ended up creating Batch files that called on the Sierra.exe files and it worked great.

So for Leisure Suit Larry 5 I created a lsl5.bat file that had sierra.exe in it and that way I was able to name the Snap file LSL5.

Also I'm running DOSBOX through Retroarch by the way. I'm trying to use Retroarch for all my different systems because I love using the Custom Bezels.

Thanks for you help though. I appreciate it
