Hi All,

Gotta say loving GameEx, and had no problem parting cash for such a handy peice of software.

Just have a few issues which appear to occur over time.

I can play away quite happily, but after a while most games end up getting what behaves like a keyboard delay. ie I press Left, Down, Up, Right, and then half a second later the ship does just that? (Can be quite annoying when trying to avoid bullets as you can imagine)

I have just downloaded and installed the latest gameEx version in the hope that this would fix the problem, but no luck.

I have tried both DirectInput on & off, and it behaves the same.

It is not a problem with my Mame Setup, as I can run command line versions of the same games and play them for hours with no problems whatsoever?

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

BTW PC Specs are 1.8GHz 512M ram 40G HDD running JPac and ArcadeVGA2 in an old Neo cabinet under winXP.

I guess by the spec of your PC, I would have to assume GameEx is taxing the heck out of your system. Read the sticky on "If GameEx is running slow."

that PC should be fine to play most emulators and gameex. Like Dazza said, it works fine for a while and then degrades...that means it isn't a hardware-not-up-to-spec issue. My guess is something else going on with Gameex since you say you can play in mame (sans Gameex) without problems. Tom may have to help here...

Thanks Guys,

I am doing a full reinstall of XP, gameex and mame tonight on this PC, if this remedies the situation, I'll let you know.

Cheers

I would try limiting the work GameEx does in the background. Perhaps try turning off the CP viewer?

Could be a bug of some sort, so it's probably worth trying to track it down.

Perhaps you could download ProcessExplorer and check out the CPU usage of GameEx while running MAME.

Q: My Remote or controller, sticks.

A: Get the latest version of the .net framework. It has also been reported that this may be due to your PC overheating, and applying the Sleep and NoWaitVsync settings resolved this. Look at the Sleep and NoWaitVsync settings in GameEx.ini. In addition, make sure the setting for using DirectInput for the keyboard is not set. If you still have problems, please post on the Yahoo group, and be sure to include all logs, configs, and what controller you are using.

is your keyboard wireless or connected through usb????

try this see what happens

and thank tom for the answer lol i just pulled it from the faq!!! lol

hopes this help some!

I have checked the code, I can't see anything, although in the latest version release today I made GameEx use even less cpu.

All its really doing when a game is launched normally is checking for ended process the mce process or key and joystick presses.

Please do post back.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks for the help guys,

Unfortunatly I've had a few problems with my ArcadeVGA card (blown crystal), so won't be able to try anything out until I get a replacement next week.

I will test it outside the box, just on the PC, and let you know if it behaves any differently. (Spose I shouldve done this as well)

What it was doing was pretty weird tho, it was sort of like it was buffering the key inputs, so any keypress I made would occur about half a second later.

I experienced the same thing with my setup. P3 1G 500M RAM, Mame32 and IPAC. I fixed it by changing the following settings in GameEx:

Input:

Enable Keyboard Directinput = NO

Enable SlikStik and IPAC support = NO

I couldnt explain the symptoms any better than you did.

FYI GameEx rules :D
