Hiya Tom-

Any plans to ever port this baby over so that it can be used on a PSP?? Keep up the great work!!

Why would you want to have GameEx on the PSP? I don't think the Mame emulator for PSP runs many games, but mainly the GameEx source code is specific to Windows using a language that is specific to Windows (.NET). Coding on PSP requires all the display routines to be in OpenGL, this is completely different to DirectDraw.

But apart from the technical drawback I still don't see why you would want to have GameEx on PSP. I do have a PSP and a suppose a cutdown version would be okay for a menu or something but it would have to be totally re-written from scratch.

I figured as much..I have been messing with the PSP and MAME, and just thought this would make a great frontend, but would require a hellava big memory card :)

I just like hacking that little beast and would love to see something someday that would be as slick as GAMEEX is for it...

I just bought 2 x 2gig Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo from EBay for a very good price. A place here in Perth was trying to sell me one for $160 (AUD) but on EBay I found official Sony ones that are hight speed (80Mbps) for $80 each!

I havn't checked out Mame for PSP, but I wouldn't imagine it supporting many games. But I see what your getting at, it would be cool to have a menu system like GameEx that will allow you to run all the different PSP emu's from one program.

Amazon.com I got a 2 gig High Speed SONY Memory Stick Pro DUO card for just under $50. The packaging was all in Japanese but hey. Two gigs is a load of emulators and roms!

Four gigs will probably be $60 or less by the end of next year. :)

Emulation of firmware anyone? ;)

I brought it up as you can see where the powers that be are going..bigger drives for portables, etc..I know on my Dell Axim, I loaded 1000 Mame games and was very happy with that and the emulator to run them, although the screen sure is small :) But, it is cool to have something to goof around with while at work

I suspect the next generation of handhelds will at least triple the drive space, so it is feasible that you could load many more games, obviously. What is missing is that killer frontend, such as GAMEEX! Just a thought :D

Ricci, was mame were you using on your Dell Axim. I have a pocketpc that I'd love to try out with mame. (cingular 8125). Was it easy to use?

I am using iMame...pretty straightforward..I also use PocketNES...I put all roms on a SD card, and load the emulators on the handheld...takes a little bit of work (have to create folders etc.) but the play is quite good. I also put the Atari emulator on, but the games are so-so...iMame is quite good, but make sure you have at least a gig card, and more is better! Let me know if you need anymore info and I will walk you through it if you have any problems!

Here is the site:

Here is another program I use and it is quite straight forward...
