I read the FAQ and still cant speed the system up.

Gamex runs slow after selecting a list item, it works at normal speed when I scroll through the lists but as soon as i press enter it slows right down. Previously it was running great and only slowed after an upgrade.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I cant remember the version I was on. it was a bit of an older one maybe 6 months old, maybe a little more.

I upgraded to the latest version.

Starting games is fine it is the transition between menu items that is slow

Have you tried turning off the Artwork searching under tweaks/performance?

Is the slow down in the start page too, all screens, or just emu lists?

I tried this but will try again tonight to make sure. It is whenever you select any menu item.

Youc an scroll through the menu items without issue but as soon as you select one by pressing hte button the transition slows right down

I am having the same issue. I had configured the mame machine a few months ago, just finally finished the cabinet this weekend. Things were running nice and snappy for a few days. Then I plugged into the internet and it auto upgraded and now all screens are very slow. I tried messing with the "Reduce CPU Utilization (MS)" setting under tweeks. I initially had to set this to 15 to make the system usable when I first installed. Adjusting it up and down now didn't seem to make much difference. I'm running a 2.8 GHz P4.

I don't think there's much wrong with 6.76 per se. It's been around for a while and seems pretty stable. What you both have in common is that you've updated from pretty old versions of GameEx. I'd try a fresh install (to another directory even) and see what you get. If OK, you can either work forwards from there or work out what's different with the slow version...
