katuuuz
it says 4 - 8 way by flipping an actuater. i'm wondering under what config are they shipped, 4 or 8? also, if they are shipped 8, my diagonals don't pick up.

shbon
not exactly sure how to.Neither am I, I haven't got one. My guess is there's a plastic plate on the underside of the joystick, held with retaining screws. It should swivel if you loosen the screws, allowing you to change the plate to a different angle...Edit: Looks like yours has an actuator instead of physical restrictor plate. The actuator is the little bit on the end of the joystick that 's making contact with the switches. I assume you can 'flip' this in some way so that it makes contact with two switches at once?Shaun
hansolo77
If it has an actuator, you're stuck with what you got. The little plastic thing is what makes the contacts. Without it, it doesn't work. Also, to make it 4 way or 8 way, you need a different actuator. I was a bit upset after I bought mine from Happ and discovered this. You can buy the other actuator from Happ though.

Are you sure about that for their current super model.http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/super_joy_e.htmThe exploded seems to show a profiled actuator. The product writeup does seem to suggest you can just 'flip' http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/super_joy.htmMight be wrong though...Shaun

I don't have one I'm not for sure but the amount of time spent here could have been resolved by calling HAPPS support. Call them first thing in the morning or it'll take you an hour to get anyone on the line As always post back your findings please.
GotMame
I have the mag-stik from ultimarc. They are the 4-8 way joysticks that you pull up on and turn to change between the 4 and 8 way settings. No going into the control panel anymore. It has a really short throw though. I actually like it better after using them for a while.
hansolo77
Ok I need to make a slight correction to my reply. I have the Ultimate Joystick from Happs, not the Super. The Ultimate requires you to change the actuator to go from 4 to 8 way. I really wish I spent some more time investigating the different types and didn't buy this one.http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/507608xxx.htm
