I'm just talking to Tom about adding a cool new feature to GameEx that will make life easier for new users. The new feature is the GameEx Setup Wizard. It will guide you through the setup of GameEx features and emulators.

What I need to do though is get a bunch of the most commonly used emulator ini files. If someone who has alot of emu's setup with GameEx can provide a zip of their ini files that would be a great help. Also, they need to be setup to be as generic as possible so that means no fancy .bat files or anything like that. Well, unless they are things that are necessary to get the emu to run for everyone.

I guess the more ini files the merrier since I am going to have go through and get the wizard to work with all the emulators. It's gonna be a big job, so your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

A big bunch of .ini files was added by Adultery not long ago, see the end of the User Submitted Configs thread...

Glad to see that you guys are going to implement an installation suite package. Hopefully this will make GameEX a much more attractive product for the masses and for those of us who just hate to tinker with all that.

Ladies and gentlemen...

Introducing the ConfigHQ Emulator INI Pack (Version 2)

Download this file and extract it to your GameEx directory, then just select your emulator from the pull-down menu on the Emu config screen. Then all you need to do is add your art paths and possibly change the working path.

ConfigHQ INI Pack.zip (31.0 kb)

Also, I have uploaded an emulator .zip to be extracted to your root folder ( C:\ ). That way, one could extract both packs and run the emulators right 'out of the box' with the only thing needing changing being the ROM path (and controllers configured, of course.)

ConfigHQ Emulator Pack.zip (30.9 MB)

Hopefully these packs will help some noobs and / or seasoned GameEx professionals alike, since all the needed command lines are already inside the .ini

Hope that's helpful! :P

Thanks. :)

I love GameEx and after registration is over it's nice to be able to give something back.

If you have any other systems you'd like to include I'll take care of it.

Glad to help. :)

Good lord man! thanks so much for the contribution. If this information is incorporated/native to GameEx this fornt end will certainly topple the front end market. Sad part is Tom will start charging more  Nice job sir!

Well I could contrib to the setup files in a few days...still trying to get things logically laid out to where I'm happy with things before stuff gets more out of hand. :)

i dunno how the setup wizard is gonna be afcouse but if its with presat options for every system then i think

the trouble is there is so many differents emulators per system

i guess its a major project then ? :)

i have submitted a few rare setups in the "Submitted Configs" tread and feel free to use them and if there is a emulator you need a setup to let us know :)

i see that in your list there is sega saturn and dreamcast.

i dont have any images/roms .

can i just ask , is it playable and can the roms be executed from the gameex list without going

through the emulator's gui.

thanx gerble1000

I would imagine the whole point of this project is to have a standardized layout for emulators to run through GameEx. Without breaking some laws there is no way possible to have these emulators work "stock" out of the box so to speak. "to answer your question GameEx is a front end NOT an emulator so no the games won't work without the respective emulator.

For instance you mention dreamcast and Saturn. They both require the actual bios roms of the consoles which are NOT included in the emulator pack supplied on this site. Tom could not host this on his site nor supply this in his GameEx package without the possibility of legal issues. Don't get me wrong, I'm a hug fan of emulation and would LOVE to see someone help Tom implement this but long story short, it would still require ALOT of additional configuration for the end user.

All these packs are for really is to skip a step on your already long complicated mission. Most people who'd be looking for configs for emulators already use the emulator before GameEx graced their lives.

As to the are they playable question: Yes. Of course. :)
