What???? - It get's rid of my sack rash.

Anyway moving on. Was this real or bogus. I don't know. Let me give you the story by numbers

1.) Opening a new shop in 2 weeks - add several phone calls with no answer

2.) He met the land lord and hated the person - decided not to take the shop

3.) Found another place to rent - add several phone calls with no answer

4.) Decided to move into a place already being rented by his buddy - he answered his phone

5.) Said he'd call me when he was setup - still hasn't called me

This person is obviously an idiot

SO I have washed my hands of this flake. So beings as the nice AMD owners have posted their specs and FPS for Carnevil and show NO difference to my Intel stuff I will chalk this up to an idiot with an opinion that doesn't know his head from his ass.

I'm just happy to have come across GameEx and have enjoyed hearing from other people in this community.

Sorry for bringing back this old thread, but I just read something interesting in another forum:

Apparently, someone did a "fix" to the driver that runs games like Gauntlet Legends (I think the driver is called Vegas) in MAME, using DirectX and the games run at full speed. But since MAME is more about having correct emulation (in this case emulating the Voodoo Graphics) before playing the games, this fix was rejected from the MAME source. My guess is that a MAME binary with this fix/hack included is out there somewhere and this guy you met got his hands on it. It sounded really strange to me that a different processor would make such a difference. But what if you actually have a Voodoo card, will that make any difference for games like this? Can MAME detect that the ACTUAL hardware is installed and take advantage of it?

Ahh...that makes sense. I seriously doubt MAME is hardware aware. Since they don't use any direct hardware interaction why would they build in the ability to query hardware ids? I supposed it could get them from directx though....I don't do any directx work so I am ignorant on this one. But I am sure that MAME doesn't care what you have.
