I'm sure there's a simple reason I'm getting this error, here's my steps.

1. Brand new install of Windows 10 64, updated. (i5, 16G ram, basic nvidia card)

2. download GameEx Arcade edition, install.

3. receive a message that windows wants to install .Net 3.5 (includes 2)

4 after .net install completes I re attempt GameEx arcade.

5 install runs without error I start GameEx.

6 I see the wizard. when I advance to the "input settings" section I receive an Unhandled Exception.

I have tried regular edition, uninstalling and reinstalling .net and gameex. again I'm sure theres something basic I am overlooking.

Here's the content of the exception:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

More info: windows 10 is 64 bit.

versions of gameex tested are current version from 12/23/2017

I noticed that the input setting screen is missing entries.

I can seem to navigate to the other settings options with no problem.

any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Would you mind redownloading and installing GameEx Arcade again? No need to uninstall the current. Thanks.

Not sure what I'm doing to cause this but yes for me it still occurs with the build I downloaded just 5 minutes ago. It does NOT occur on my laptop (dell xps13), not sure why this particular pc is giving me problems. Ive tried reinstalling windows reinstalling gameex a few times.

This computer is in an arcade machine has been running gameex with a j-pac for a while, but I wanted to upgrade a bigger hard drive so I figured a freshly installed OS would be best.

any work around ideas?

If its a bug its probably down to me i am afraid but otherwise maybe dirextx runtimes

Ok so for my testing, when I tried to start a fresh vanilla install of win 10 64 and 7 64 on a new WD 1TB hdd I received that exception.

oddly enough when I plug in my old hard drive (windows 10 64 ssd ) that's been running for years, I just boots up and no exception when I access input settings.

call it fixed for now? :)

I thought I couldn't live on my 64g os drive, but I can, I just moved some stuff around.

Thanks for the support.

I suspect its directx related. You could try that MS directx 9 web installer which installs all the runtimes but we will try and pinpoint exactly what dependency is missing. I can duplicate the issue on a fresh install but its fine on another machine.
